^this, don't do a diff drop unless you're chasing vibrations and have exhausted other options. The diff drop for 2nd gens does nothing, all it does is rotate the front of the diff downward slightly, hardly lowered the CV output at all, making for some more low-hanging parts and, because the front is not lower, the rear bearings are now no longer submerged in oil as much.

If you want to go with a 4" lift, you should get a drop bracket lift. I believe Revtec makes a 4" drop bracket lift for the 2nd Gens. That will completely lower the front diff, similar to the Fabtech or Procomp 6" front lifts, helping your CV angles. I'm not sure what comes in the kit though. It might require changing spindles also.

 

That's why I never installed the diff drop. I also don't want to spend the money or go though the trouble of a drop bracket kit for an extra 1" lift. Plus I'll lose ground clearance where the drop bracket is.

 

Get some thick skids. You'll be fine

He must have hit that rock pretty good. But I've heard of some people ruining their diff without ever hitting anything.

he said the shocks are bent and he would assume the guy landed a jump with the throttle pinned. The owner apparently said that it just wouldn't move when he got back in it What really happened I have no idea lol.

 

Is that the LSD or regular diff?
