I won't be there until late the 31st or early 1st. See if you can take me early and we can plan to caravan together. Or, I am trying to go out there the week of April 1, during my spring break. Would you want to go out then?
Bob, that sounds like an excellent quote to put on the back of the shirt!

I am going to go buy steel for my sliders this weekend. Does anyone know approximate price differences between round and square tube steel? I am still new to fabrication, so I don't honestly know what size/wall thickness I should use either. Any suggestions/info are welcome and appreciated!

Edit- I found this thread and like this design, other than the lack of kickout.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
I made mine from 2" square tube in the 3/16" variety as well. there are some pics in my build thread. Haven't been able to bend or dent them yet.

I don't think price will really be that big of a difference for this size of a project. I could be wrong, but that would be because I buy my steel at a surplus yard by the pound so it always costs the same at that rate.

Square tubing will be easier to work with in regards to tooling and making joints as compared to round tubing. As cloudy mentioned, 3/16 should be plenty.

I like your design too! After reading through your build I feel pretty bad that I haven't done more DIY projects on my truck. The sliders will be a good one though.
Well a lot of the steel will be purchased for me by my brother (He gave me a IOU for a xmas present saying that when I was ready, he would buy the first $100 of the steel) so I am not too worried, but I just wanted to know if the difference in price would be enough to try to work out how I would try to work with round tubing because you are right, the round would be way harder to work with since I don't have access to a bender. Really we are going to be trying to get this done in a backyard shed, so I hope I can make it work.

Mine are only .120" wall 1.75" square. I've landed on them pretty hard and they hold up. Jacking up the truck by them flexes them about .125".

I have been watching that video For a while now. I have been planning on doing that one while I'm out there. Seems like a good mix of tough stuff, and just fun obstacles.
