    Sweet.

No trails at first. I wanna get comfortable on the bike first, then if I want to I will just get another set of wheels/tires to have as an off road set.

My dr650 did great 2 up. The most important thing is teaching your passenger to lean into the turns with you. Having them contradicting you back there gets kinda scary haha

Oh and I don't know what my stock dr650 weighed but I dumped it multiple times offroad, never had any trouble lifting it back up and I'm EXTREMELY slim at 145 lbs and 6'2".

She has ridden on the back of a buddies ZX600 so he has an idea of what to do. Probably more so than I do

Shit and I though was a lanky bastard  Thanks man that makes me rest a little easier.

So I am guessing there is no such thing as a great riding boot that is also decent enough looking/comfortable enough to walk/sit class in? Well something that isn't doesn't come with a huge price tag.

Lol yeah. As for the boots, I have some ariat leather non steel toe work boots that I wear around town. They're definitely not the most protective but way more comfortable than my mx boots. I would stick with non steel toes just because they're less bulky.

I don't really do the fancy riding boots thing. I used to have a second hand pair, but I never really wore them because they looked ridiculous. Never wanted to go into a restaraunt or something looking like a power ranger. I was in a pretty bad crash (got hit by a car) and of course I just had some crappy vans canvas sneakers on, but my feet were fine. Now I usually just wear some timberlands.
Some kind of boots are pretty essential though, everytime I've laid a bike down, on road or off, no matter how slow, it seems like it always involves getting slammed in the shins or ankles :p

Nobody plans on going down. And who says its uncomfortable to wear gear? Next time you go for a ride around town stop at your attorneys office and put my name on your will.

    I'll look into those thanks!

I am weary of getting a 250 because I don't want to grow out of it after one season. I don't want to mess with buying, selling, the buying again.

But how well would a decent hiking boot be though is the thing. I guess I could shop around from some leather ones?

I do. It's uncomfortable to me, so I choose not to deal with it. My opinion is the only one that matters on the subject of comfortability, doesn't matter "who" else does.

Gaerne has a boot that's somewhat an MX boot, but super comfortable. It doesn't have any hard protection on the ankle area which is why some don't like it, but people who do own it claim they can walk around all day in them. Dude said he tried them on, forgot he was wearing them, and ended up mowing the yard in them.
I'll try and track down a link and post them up.

Seems like you have to sacrifice ankle protection for comfort if you plan on wearing them for anything other than riding.

It's not that you'd outgrow it really. More so it'd just be too small for the street riding you intend. My buddy is one of the best trail riders I've meet or seen. He just sold some of his bigger bikes to get a new 250 for trails. He likes to ride some tight trails and needs a 250.

There is a GREAT trail system less than 5 minutes from me. If I really decide I wanna trail ride I probably wouldn't wanna bang up my DD bike anyways. Plus the rednecks around here are always selling their shiz...I am gonna make a dual sport BS thread so we quit blowing this one up.

Those don't look all that bad. I bet it would look a little goofy going down the road if you had you jeans over them haha probably what I would do

I wear hiking boots to ride all the time. Just make sure they're leather boots and cover your ankles.

I would wear my nike boots to trail ride all the time. Not the best support, but covered the ankle fine.

MX boots protect a ton but walking fuck that. They suck to shift with you've got like no feel. I hate mine wasted $350
