Did you take your outer tie rod off at the knuckle? Or did you leave the outer tie rod in and just seperate the inner and outer?

I loosend the backing nut and separated the inner from the outer. I am dropping it off tomorrow to get the alignment touched up. I tried my best to put it back the way I took it off. But I suppose the alignment is a tad off.

Dude, you're running 883s and 285s and ripping boots, but you haven't removed your swaybar yet? You should give it a try.

Took out the crank today, it look okay by visual inspection. The rod bearings could definitely use replacing. They are scored to shit. Was going to try to use a mike and some plastigauge to really get to know, but didn't have enough time since my buddy got off work late. Only had enough time to move the body of the truck back in the garage (we had moved it outside the other day to make room for his '87 4-runner so we could do the ball joints, stabilizer, and whatnot) to zip off the remaining bearings and check them out (two were really bad, the others were poor, but not nearly as scored. The two bad ones were in the middle. Ridge reamed the cylinder walls and then took out the pistons to check them out. Robert is thinking we will try some oversize bearings at this point.
Didn't manage to get any pics today, so hopefully I will be able to tomorrow. If I don't post the pics here, they'll be in my build thread.

I have an inkling the tire shop had the torch to close to the boot when they aligned my truck last week. The old boot showed signs of heat being too close. But I have been contemplating removing the sway bar.

true that broski. may wanna consider. I know it will be seeing a lot of elements with your new 4wd as well lol. id just take a day to derp around the house and hit it with a few coats of rustoleum. or hell, pull it off at night, paint a few coats on it, let it dry overnight. should be dry enough by the next day to put back on.
