I've been wanting to do this also, positive runs to fuse block and starter. I think I'm gonna get the ruff stuff battery holder and mount it to the center of my bed cage closest to the cab

i do, but i just kept the stock wires in and added the extra wire to the end. i used 2 eyelets, 2 battery terminals and about 25ft of wire. obviously more if you dont have a single cab.

I used a fuse block on the old truck. The wire I used was 2 gauge Miller welding cable. Here are some pictures.

What gauge wire did you use?

Did you ground the battery off the frame in the bed or did you extend the ground as well?

    set up like so.. 8CE8BD3A-2A06-438E-AB5A-A10B9928BFDC-393_dbebb3fcae251c1deaf1cf3c49f6f59e98371700.jpg

i used 0 gauge ground wire for a welder. i bought a 25ft roll and i only had like 5 feet left over. but its grounded from the motor on the body panel and then where the battery is, its grounded to the frame right under it.

I plan to drill a hole where the top bracket clamps to the bottom and padlock it

So i was at my buddies house and this came up on tv....
    http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/worlds-toughest-drive
basically this guy spends 3 years building up a 4 door second gen for a drive to the south pole to beat the world record time
thing is.... hes running STOCK uppers, lowers, what appears to be like super extended spindles (stock width though), and fucking no name emulsion coilovers!! all stock mounting points. the rear is what might be 3 or 4 linked on shitty single rate coils and similar no name shocks. probably 6 inches of travel....
AND he doesn't even run beadlocks, DOESN'T BRING A SPARE TO ANTARCTICA, runs a half cage (basically support bar).
I was in disbelief... and they were trying to race it across gnarly arctic terrain for 40 hours straight.... those shocks must have hated life!
the lowers pulled an engage and pulled from the mount, the coilovers fell apart, they cracked a rim (for which they had no replacements)
basically i watched this whole thing in complete disbelief (they didn't even think to lower the air pressure in the tires OR run studs until after they got stuck, about 5 minutes in)
sorry for the rant, but how does this get produced into a whole tv show? these guys don't know shit!:eek:

And they didn't consider being able to air down without blowing a bead... let alone no spare... i feel like we as a forum could build a significantly faster and safer truck for much less. maybe spend a bit more on shit that matters instead of dropping on paint and a pretty bumper hahaha

yup.... i can't believe they weren't even running midtravel or some kind of upgraded kit, AT LEAST upgraded shocks....

Yupp thats it... Such a piece of shit! They could have watched TopGear UK when they did it in a taco, and taken notes. I don't know how these guys trusted stock suspension, mounts and everything in such an intense drive. I know people who refuse to go to the desert without having their rig set up 100%, and that's not even far from help compared to this....
