And block some of the light output!? This ain't no spot light. It's a long as led bar that immediately is gonna put out a light spread. U have to find the right height and position to mount it so that u don't block any light with the vehicle and so that the light doesnt flood over the front windshield and blind the shit outta u

 

i'm only kidding guys, it's a replacement for the old one that was on the front.
though i do have a design idea for a roof bar, but my SAS is much more important

well. i’d hope the light is going forward not down.so idk how it would block light. maybe it wont hit the ground as close to the truck but if you have lights on the bumper that should not be a problem because those will light up the ground a lot sooner then a roof light would.

 

U are missing what I'm saying. Take a flashlight outside at night, turn it on and place it on the roof of ur truck. Put it 2" back away from ur windshield and see how much light hits the roof. That light is being blocked and completely unusable. Move the flashlight flush or close to flush with the windshield line and see how much light is filtered through the windshield, obstructing some of ur view. This is obviously not a good idea, unless u are already blind and somehow drive safely through the grace of god. Then move the flashlight so it over hangs the windshield by 2" and see how might light is reflected on the windshield and how much light is blocked by the truck. AFTER u do all that, come tell me that u HOPE all the light travels forward and none of it travels down.

Now that u have taken a flashlight, which is probably a very small amount of light, and done this test, multiply it x40 and make the beam pattern much wider and you are getting close to understanding what I'm saying. It's inevitable, in some way, unless u mount the light super high and super far forward over the windshield, u will get some form of light loss or impaired vision problem

Hahaha k, u don't have to literally do that. It would just be a very easy way to understand. U also have to understand that the throw of a led bar is different then a round light. Even a spot beam led bar has a greater flood pattern then a round fixture. It's just all about the proper placement of the proper light

 

yeah. I’m going to put one on a roof rack. i think i may just have one built. i’m not sure. i kinda want a lot of little things done. like tie down hook loops and removable cross bars and stuff.

any ways wont be on much tomorrow. mom wants me to dig a bunch of holes so she can move some blue berries or something. oh well i get paid so thats good..

 

Probably can save some money by buying a roof rack from a company then doing the little extra things urself. Then u can also put a lil time in on learning to weld.

yeah. but no one makes one like i want. go check out XmadcowX’s he is a FL member. i like his a lot! colinB17 built it for him. in a pm said it would be about $600 to build. I forget if thats if he was to build it or thats just in the steel tubing, and acrylic faring.

This is an open weekend at Adventure Offroad Park. Gates open Friday morning at 8am.

 

$600 has to be built. I just bought 100' of DOM 1 3/4" x .120" for about $6 a foot and there's no way he used that big of size pipe. I would use 3/4" x .10" maybe 1/2", and probably 80', plus 3' of 2"x 2"x .125 for mounting tabs and whatever else kinda tabs. Add in a lil bit of wire and any nuts, bolts, and washers and I'd say no more then $320 in material.

 

Yeah i think that was a built price. I forget what he used.
