Is there an air conditioner filter that I need to change out on my 2005 SR5? If so where is it and how do you do it? My mother in law said she changed out hers on her 2005 FourRunner and it made a big difference. I appreciate your help in advance.

If it's an 05 then there's nothing to change since the mindless fucks simply put the box there for the cabin air filter but didn't put the stupid filter in it. Much defense of said sad lacking shit you will hear here but IMO, if they went as far as putting the fucking box there it SHOULD have had a filter in it. Period. Behind the glove box as was stated.............

Do I even want to ask as to why they didn't do that? I wonder if they put one in when they did the 30K maint? Is there anything I need to check in there/clean etc. if there isn't a filter?

Just look for debris... mine tends to suck up cd cellophane wrappings, leaves, ect. It was probably just an assembly line overlook... it was the first year of the new gen, there tends to be some issues as they work things out. Honestly if one of the largest problems they had was forgetting an in cabin filter, lol awesome.

Yes you should make sure it's cleaned out and replace filter, but watch out if you have the dealer do it! Charged me $85! Unfrickin believable! I know, I should have known better and just done it myself. I'm still kicking my ass about it.:mad:

Also for some reason out of all the in cabin air filters, the ones for 2nd gen Tacomas are some of the most expensive at autozone. I thought price was $25 bucks but when cashier scanned it ended up being like $40 something. The one I picked up ended up being in the wrong place.

I have found one thru O'Reillys auto parts, their brand $14.99. I will definitely put it in myself.
    Thanks.

Doubt it...wait yeah they would if they thought they could get 85.00 out of ya for it. I know they don't check it when the do their 160 pt certified preowned checks either because mine still didn't have one. It's not that it's any major hassle & agree that if that's the worst thing then whatever but.....that's not the only thing & that's not the point. Check ebay for 20.00 shipped if you want the oem one. I'm sure these other 4.00 alternates will be just fine for this situation tho.

dang! for that price i hope they filled up the blinker fluid too. it dissapoints me that businesses take advantage of people like this. i would've had them un-install it right in front of me, then ask how they could justify the price.

Yes that amount does seem excessive. I will go with one from O'Reillys for starters then order the others from the site above. Thanks for the replies.
