basic HU and component upgrade

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, and recently traded in my 07 Subaru WRX STi for an 06 Tacoma TRD DoubleCab and i'm stoked!

Anyways, i had a couple quick questions in regards to basic upgrades. I'm looking to put in a double din cd/dvd player (Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD) and upgrade my front components (*********??)

My questions are:
1) Will the ********* (Image Dynamics CTX65CS Component Speakers) need an amp or can i just run them off the new deck. I assume they would be underpowered?

2) Do i need to run new wiring to the new components or just use the stock wiring?

3)If i DON'T power my new components with an amp, i assume i wouldn't use the crossovers?

First, welcome to TW.

1) I'd recommend an amp. They will be underpowered off the HU, but it isn't mandatory.
2) Stock wiring is fine. I prefer to run my own wires just for my own feeling of joy for doing it.
3) You should still use the crossovers.

 

Thanks! I'm wondering if i should just bite the bullet now and anti up for the amp and do it all at once rather than going back later to do it...also not sure where to mount the amp out of site, yet convenient. Any amp suggestions for my components?

If you got the cash and you plan on getting some serious volume out of your system, get an amp. Pick a price point and start your search from there. A reputable brand is a reputable brand.

Amp location will depend on it's size. Some are small enough to go under the seats, some aren't.

 

I would recommend doing it all at once... I'm so glad I did mine right the first time.

If you wait till this weekend, I should hopefully have all my pics up of my install... I'm in the process of completing it now. I'll be posting to this Audio & Video forum. It'll give you an idea of where to mount your amps, speakers you could buy, etc... There are a bunch of options out there.
