Guess i better post in here instead of just lurking.

I'm one of Tayysere's friends/coworkers. Spent a few hours at Toyota and ordered myself a 2013 today. Gonna have to wait 4-6 weeks for it so no pics yet for you guys.

Located in the Sandy area. Im one of the guys Tayysere mentioned that does headlight retrofitting. I also do vinyl stickers in my spare time.

Wow. You're really going to be back on the 27th? That is just so awesome.

For this short of notice, 5 Mile sounds like a nice easy trail to get us back into trails. Question is... Rattlesnake or just mess around on fire roads? Guess we can figure that out once we're out there and decide based on experience and vehicles.

Okay, getting closer to the August 'Bryce trip' and with mostly hiking trails and shuttle bus to viewpoints from what I have seen, the wife is saying no point in spending the gas $$$ to drive the Tacoma there from San Diego if there isn't any four wheeling roads nearby! Her Corolla gets 35 mpg vs. my Tacoma's 18 mpg highway. Having the XM satellite radio isn't enough reason to pay fro twice the gasoline consumed. I was really hoping for some off roading, but from what I have seen in the links, Bryce isn't the place for that, and we don't want to drive two hours to get to a place that has some scenic 4WD dirt roads.

If anyone has some additional data on dirt roads, close to Bryce, I do appreciate it. If I missed something in the earlier links a couple of you posted, I apologize.

It really depends how rough you want to get.

Just north of Kanab, theres a handful of trails rated between 5-6 on average. Probably a bit harder than you want to do though.
    Hog Canyon
    Radio Tower
    Toms Canyon
    Savage Loop
    Savage Point
    Pinnacle - Big Hill
    John R Flat
And many more as you get closer to St. George

If you aren't planning on being that far south,
    Mammoth Cave - Unknown
Skutumpah Rd, but its a dirt road. 1/10
    Cottonwood Canyon Rd 2/10

Then there's also a bunch of trails north east of Bryce in the Dixie National Forest.
    Powell Point - 3/10
    Barney Top - 5/10
And the list just grows the closer to Moab you get.

Quite a few of the trails I listed are mapped out at http://offroadinghome.djmed.net/index.htm
    http://www.treknow.com/utah/backroads/southwest

I do have quite the collection of trails, but its really not in a format I can easily give the whole thing (its about 500mb compressed using Garmin BaseCamp, with lots of attachments, etc of the sources of the trails). If you want more details on anything, I'll be happy to give you what I have on them.
