I test drove a brand new, dealer lifted, 2013 Tacoma the other day and took it on a rough gravel road to feel the suspension. A second after I hit a pot hole or series of braking bumps, I heard a whistle from under the dash. It sounded more like a vacume sensor or warning chime than anything actually broken. Is this normal? The saleman had no idea what I was talking about.

No, more like a low steady whistle that only lasted for a sec or two.

3" Toyotec blocks on top of the front coils and new springs in the rear. I'm new to Tacomas and lifts but it seemed ligget.

vehicle stability control I believe is what it stands for. a traction control feature.
spacers and blocks are not a great lift. they are a cheap lift, but they are not a great lift. that lift probably cost the dealer a couple hundred bucks, and they are most likely charging an arm and a leg for it.

the only tacomas that have a suspension lift standard are the baja models. but be prepared to shell out a lot of $ for that model. if you want to lift the truck, you would be better off buying a stock model, purchasing a lift from a vendor on here, and installing yourself or asking for help on the forum. lots of knowledgeable guys on here and most are more than willing to help turn wrenches if needed. not trying to steer you away from the truck, just giving fair warning on the blocks and spacers.

Was your door closed completely? Possible key chime.

Or, when they did the lift they may not have installed adapters for the TC or shaft (if needed)

Really? And spacers are junk if you want to seriously offroad your truck if you want the lift for looks go with spacers but if you want the performance look elsewhere. I've had both.

I have 4-wheeled the shit out of my spacers. No problems. 20,000 miles and counting. TW gives spacers a bad name for no reason. And don't say broken shock crap, I've seen the same pic of a broken shock, I don't jump mine so I don't think ill break a shock. There is Nothing wrong with spacers on the front. Same as a stiff ass coil y'all pay out the ass for to do the same lift!

to each their own guys. i was just making the OP aware that the "dealer installed" lift, which is spacers and blocks, was most likely the culprit if the vsc is indeed going off.
i also wanted to inform him that dealers bloat the price of said "dealer installed" lift, so if he wants to bend over and spread cheeks for that option, its not my money.
OP if you do get the truck, make sure they at least have it documented that the truck made these noises before purchase. and ask them if they can reset the vsc system and see if that helps.

So the whistle is an indication it is not working properly? Or that it is mearly engaged?

The VSC usually beeps, it's beeps when you are in a skid(or truck thinks it is).

It's a high pitch, low volume tone. A beep discibes it as well as a whistle.

So since we're on the same page now, I'm guessing that there was nothing wrong with the lifted truck I test drove then.
The VSC was just doing its job.

It's very faint and sounds like it comes from the driver's side under the dash , correct ?
