    Hey guys,

Installed my new billes all around with the front at 1.75 and the rears with the tsb, also threw on some gt at2 grabbers and pro comp rims, but now I sometimes notice (only every now and then) my truck starts to vibrate at between 60-80mph. Is this the death shake or could it be the billies in the front. I thought I read there shouldnt be any vibes at 1.75 but going 2.5 in the front is where it would start. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Definitely not death wobble. Death wobble will just about make you chit your pants ...no lie. It's called 'death' for a reason.

I'll second the balancing.... although, at 60-80mph...it's a very slight mis-balance. Even a slightly bent wheel can cause that kind of oscillation.

Another thought......Janster made me consider this by her comment..... try rotating the wheels. Just do a quick front to back rotation (I know its not the correct pattern but this is only 1 time to try process of elimination and then u can rotate them correctly in 5k).

So yeah, move front to rear and see if that changes anything.....its free to try :)

If it gets better, then get em roadforce balanced next rotation... or takeit in and since the rims are new still, have the shop spin ur rim and see if its bent slightly......things do happen.

Good luck, sometimes these trucks are finicky

Not questioning your mechanical skills but another suggestion is to have someone else go behind you and make sure all the hardware is tightened and torqued correctly.

If it's an intermittent problem wouldn't that alone eliminate a tire balance issue? If a tire was out, it would start vibing all the time right at the same speed....yes?

Vib in the steering wheel/ dash, or seat/ center console? If it's in the steering wheel/ dash it sound quite similar to the symptoms of worn tie rod end(s).

You might want to consider a set of hub centric rings. I was skeptical at first, but I put them on last night, and no more vibes! I got the gorilla ones from Amazon that are mentioned in another thread for only $15 + shipping. Your factory hubs are 106mm while most aftermarket wheels made for our Tacomas are 108-110mm. Make sure you check the specs for your wheels so you get the proper size rings. Also make sure your lugs have the angle on them that help to center them on the studs. Both acorn style and the extended thread style should work. I had a pretty bad vibe from 45 to 60 mph (sometimes intermittent) with a standard wheel balance (not roadforce). Its a pretty cheap thing to try to narrow down the many possibilities that could be causing your vibes. Good luck

Yes...however... At that speed, it's probably a very minor vibration. Vibrations are 'oscillations' that can go in & out and/or builds up a rhythm. It's not uncommon to not feel it 'all the time'. If the driver is not actually paying attention to it - you might not notice it by being preoccupied with driving, road conditions, road noise, etc.

I had a minor vibe on my jeep w/ 35's - at 70mph. As I mentioned, you wouldn't notice it unless you were paying close attention.

    Yep.
Have to disagree a little on this. I have MM 951's and had a very intermittent vibration. Seemed to be as unpredictable as the weather. Did some research and found out about the hub bore sizes and hub rings, things I had never heard off. Found some online, installed and my vibration was 80% better. 95% after I swapped out the needle bearing to ECGS and hopefully will be 100% after I tackle THIS.

Thanks guess I'll put a order in and do all the free stuff while waiting. Are these the bad boys you were talking about?

    http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automotive-73-5710-Centric-57-10mm/dp/B001O0GFY0

lol thanks, good to know ill give that a try after the hub centric rings

No worries, I brought it to a suspension/tire specialists to install since I had to rim the tires and swap out my winter ones, I was like meh pay a bit more and save sometime. But I guess I'll be that someone and go check that out after my work set.

ALmost feels like it starts in the rear and makes it's way foward...buy the steering wheel and the passenger seat definetely look like they are having a seizure.

Thanks to all for your input all has been noted and will be attempted, love this place!

A lifted pickup truck with AT tyres vibrating at 80 MPH? It aint a sports car what did you expect? The tyre balancing should take care of your issue.

    typical highway speeds are 65-75

now imagine passing on top of those speeds to get around the idiot on the phone, the drunk, the big rig who is swaying in wind (unless u enjoy being behind them).

I see nothing wrong with his 60-80 mph reference...........besides, maybe he was doing process of elimination..... "ok, 50 is smooth, 55 is smooth......shit, 65 is bad, I wonder if it will clear up at 70 or 75?" ......some vibes are most prominent at 65 but may clear right up at 70..... but now he knows its not the case.

besides, he is only at 1.75

my eibachs got me to 2" and I drive with the flow of traffic............. sometimes in southern california u will be in the way if ur doing 75mph, I promise you that...... he needs to be able to drive safely at a speed where others arent consitently honking, or flying by and passing to get around alot and adding the chances of an accident in front of the guy..... give him a lil break
