40's are fine on 1 tons too, that's what I'll be running. Trust me, with your big 2nd gen, you won't regret 1 tons.

She is on the axles...sort of, still need a ubolt plate upfront. Jackstand are set at 20" to axle center and a 28" belly/frame height. I flipped te rear springs back to take some wheelbase out of it, it's at 113.5" right now. All I'm all happy with it at the moment, still have a lot to do though.

I'm honestly not sure how people get rigs to sit low, I did all the easy things to keep it as low as possible and it's high by some standards. Should work out perfect for the trails it will see. Prob will have to add a leaf front and rear because these springs are stupid soft.

Thats the only thing I am bummed about. If I hadn't just bought brand new 37" KM2's last year I could buy whatever tires I wanted. I am keeping my eye out for a good deal but its hard to sell your tires at the drop of a dime when a deal pops up.

Both those king pins are toast. Any pitting is bad and look for wear too. Those look like they were dry at one point and began to rust.

They're not really that bad to get out, I just did mine when I tore my axle apart a month ago.

Heres a shot of my a new one for comparison, its covered in grease but the surface is a pretty good one. Not mschined but perfectly smoth.

$0 if you have a generous donor who just want's to be nice and do all the work for you all the way up to as much as you want.

Lots of variables so it kinda depends on what kind of axle you want, gearing/lockers, coils or leafs, steering setup, etc...

Yup. So far I've spent about $7000, maybe a little more. I still have a few thousand to go too  That's a full 1 ton build with ARB's front and rear, ORI struts up front, 40" tires, Raceline wheels. The only thing I am really cheaping out on is the rear suspension with some $100 Chevy springs and Bilstein 5125's LOL

You can have lockers now! Wayyyy simpler to install a couple lockers than design/build a solid axle under your truck.

talk to the guys at East Coast Gear Supply, they can set you up with a front locker that all you have to do is drop your current front diff and bolt up the new one with new fluid.

If it's an air locker, you'll need to install the air compressor and plumb it as well, but still - waaaaaaay easier than doing a SAC

Yup! East Coast Gear Supply is the shit! Ordered from them a few times and every experience was excellent. Great company to do business with. You get 4 or 5 emails confirming your order and when it ships. Awesome.
