Thats a real clean truck man, it is definitely a shame that its only 2WD. You're right though, it wouldn't do much, maybe small curbs and pebbles ;) You could still deck it out as a prerunner, but no crazy stuff in tahoe.

or instead of losing money selling the 2wd and spending more money for a 4x4, which is still IFS and shit for most real rock trails. you can save up more and go for a solid axle swap. there won't be any front diff stiff and it'll be easier to do the swap than a 4x4. keep in mind a good swap is around 4-8k, cheap if you go leaf sprung, more expensive if you go with links

    .
I may have told some of you about the problems I'm having with my back neighbor, the landlord's sister, a couple of my tools went missing, her dog was shitting in my parking space, she hosed of her car and got water spots all over my truck several times....all of which the landlord has talked to her about and that she would make her leave before us leaving. Well, now I'm enraged. The loser/tweak/bitch, the landlord's sister, I'm working on my truck tonite, it's dark, we have two parking spaces in front of the back house, mine is a straight shot down the driveway, hers you have to pull to the left of my truck which is fine in her little compact. So I haven't seen the bitch all day, I got my grill, over adjacent to her space, in the yard, off the driveway, out of my way so i don't kick it in the dark. I got front lights on, cab light and bed lights going, she pulls in the driveway so i close my left side doors so she has plenty of room, so she pulls in, swings wide and runs over my fucking grill, FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like she couldn't see it in the headlights!?!?!?!? Grill is fucked, the grillcraft is bent, the frame and tabs are cracked and or missing, she just waltzes up to her house and I fucking blow up, she comes back down to leave and I say "You destroyed my grill" she barks at me "Well you shouldn't have put it there" I absolutely fucking blow up now, fucking start fuckin yelling, call her a stupid fucking c&%t, stupid fucking bitch and a few other choice names before i got a hold of myself and went in the house until she left.
I am red hot fucking pissed, what no sorry? No nothing eh? So that's how you want to play you fucktard, fine bitch.

So I call the landlord, explain what happened, explain that I lost my cool and called her sister a bunch of names, didn't ask for anything, just letting her know what's up, she said she'll talk to her sister, fine, whatever.

Now the whore probably told her adult son what happened by now so if he shows up, the cops will get called and very bad things will happen if they don't get here fast enough, that's okay, I know just how to be truthful enough to get them here in force and in a screamin hurry without actually lying to the 911 operator.

SO help me god if she ever speaks to me again, I want my fucking grill replaced now, I think i can salvage the grillcraft but the plastic surround is fucked.

Count to ten, think happy thoughts......

I would have called the cops. She did it while driving so her car insurance will have to pay for the damage and they ding her with a point for the claim due to her "accident".

Pedal's no big deal. But if you're that worried about their honesty, PM me about which service advisor to use at Thompson's. There's only one person I will deal with. He's honest and will do what you want done without the BS, not what others typically push.

I doubt she has insurance, she's way behind on her rent to her sister, she's started doing drugs again, she's a real winner. I'm still way pissed but i doubt I would get any money out of her. I'm going to replace the grill myself, I will apologize to the landlord for losing my cool, but not to her sister, as far as i'm concerned i was just calling a spade a spade.

    ...too much shit to list.
Depends if you're mechanically inclined or not. The swap isn't as hard as people make it out to be. Despite some people's perception, it is all bolt in. No fab skills required. Just basic mechanical skills and the willingness to read through a couple threads on TTORA.

You pretty much need transmission, transfer case (easiest with j-stick case...less wiring) with frame mount, spindles, cv axles, and driveshafts.

Wrong. I've seen all the parts needed for less than $1200 on both craigslist and car-part. You can't compare and IFS bolt-in upgrade to fully fabricated SAS. There is NOTHING easier about doing a SAS compared to a bolt in IFS. If that was the case everyone would be doing that.

This...if you love your truck keep it and make it in to what you want.

:D she's purdy aint she!! lol

Thanks bro. See now that is do-able...im not to mechanically inclined..i could do basic maintenance, thats about it. Now my pops, that man can do wonders, so of course he would be helping me with this.

We do love this truck and would hate to see it go, looks like the swap is my better option. Im in no rush, so maybe i can start collecting the parts!

I love TW, Thanks guys

Pulled off my battery cables to the teggy to look at the battery tray, put the cables back and my alarm goes off. The first thing that goes through my mind is, I have an alarm? Any ideas?

    Agreed.
Jason is completely correct. It's just a matter of figuring out what parts you'll need, finding the parts at the right price (which can be the tedious part), and bolting them in. It's a great way for you to learn a lot about your truck!

Including the brand-new 5.29 gears for my front diff, I did my 4x4 conversion for less than $1,100. Read about it here if you'd like: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...-dragon-4x4-conversion-build.html#post4824071

And yeah, TONS of info on TTORA. Good place to start is here:

Took my taco out to Lake Sonoma yesterday... truck was full of people and gear, and full tank of gas, boat was loaded full of gear and gas, and surprising the Taco pulled my Centurion Avalanche C4 without any trouble. Pretty surprised, but damn you could feel the weight.

Chris - Sorry to hear about your grille, but I had friends that ended up being horrible tennats. I lent one my car for the day, and she totalled it, and her girlfriend was bipolar, so they would fight, and they caused over $3k in damage to my Granny Unit, and were always late on payment, asking for favors. And then I would hear them fighting all night at like 12-3AM, and the cops would come, and knock at my house because it was in my back yard on top of my garage, and I work 50-60 hours a week and commute 3 hours a day. Getting them out of my life was best move ever. And the really psycho one was like sue happy, and her family is all crazy and has cop friends, so I had to tread lightly and do everything to get rid of them 100% legal. Tennants have more rights than land owners. Makes me never want to rent my granny unit again, but the income would definitely help. And the worst part, the girls I rented to would go on disability for emotional issues, as I pay for them to basically be on welfare and just chill with my tax money. Meanwhile I have a blown disc in my neck and I was hit by an f450 on my motorcycle on the way to work and didn't miss a day of work. I even worked all day with a broken foot for 12 hours. They are still living off the system to this day, just not at my house.

should just be able to hook up the cables then unlock the door with the key and the alarm will stop.
