My back drum brakes squeak and there is no convenient way to clean them as I know of.. There is a plug on the back side that I took a air hose and blew them out.. Doesn't quite clean it completely out and it is quite embarrassing every time I go to stop any more ways rather than taking my wheels and drum off and washing them to fix this?

I'm not sure why you're washing them out:notsure:

Water in the drum leads to flash rust on the swept area... leads to squeaking when the shoe contacts the swept area...

    ^^^Reading comprehension problems^^^

No where did the OP mention a WATER wash

He has blown them out with air thus far, and was asking what else is possible. It is possible to wash with brake cleaner, no?

Edit to add, the rubber plug is a service port to reach the adjusters

Pull the cover off and dose everything with brake cleaner is all I can think of doing. While you're in there, make sure everything is properly adjusted and bled out. Mine don't squeek normally but right after a rain storm they'll squeek the first time I apply the brakes.

Some of this Some of that
Take the drum off, clean the drum and shoes with brake cleaner, then scuff the pads with 150 grit or so sandpaper, also the inside of the drum. Thats what i usually do, seems to help a little

Yeah, the only way I came up with was to pull the drum every so often and clean everything up. Mine squealed like crazy. Finally got sick of it and replaced the shoes with some AC Delco (I think?) that aren't supposed to squeak. 7k on them and no squeaks, which is longer than I ever went with factory shoes lol.
