I may be trading our RV for a new one tomorrow. We have a 19ft KZ Sportsmen classic which has a single axle and a dry weight of 2649lbs and dry hitch wt of 286 lbs. I use a weight dist hitch with sway control and brake controller.I am looking at a new 24ft KZ sportsman classic with a dry weight of 3460lbs and and hitch weight of 340 lbs, it also has the dual axles. My truck is a 2012 DCSB SR5 with factory tow pkg. The dealer says I will be fine towing it but they say anything to make a sale and damn this thing is long. We only travel within the state not cross country or anything. So do you guys or gals think this may be too much for my truck? Sorry if this seems long winded. Thanks

dry weight I believe you are fine. Course only you and your family can determine what else is needed while out on a trip. Try to figure out a total weight.

I don't believe we would be adding more then a couple hundred pounds of weight. We don't use the water tanks we will have 1 propane tank and the battery. Just looking for some reassurance, I don't want to hurt anybody. Thanks for the reply

the weights not the issue, the length it may blow around a bit, but the truck should be fine

OP - How well does the Taco pull your 19 footer with the WDH and Sway control? I'm asking cause we are talking about upgrading to that size. We currently have a pop up that weighs the same as a that 19 footer. I got 16 mpg last trip, imagine that will disappear with a full size trailer.

    tonneau,
It tows it great, I wouldn't do it without the WDH hitch. I towed it home without one when I first bought it and it scared the hell out of me. But with a WDH you don't feel it unless you hit some bumps in road and no sway. Gas mileage suffers 10 maybe 12 mpgs but that's to be expected.

Plenty of people do it. I believe the consensus is 24ft is the longest you wanna go with a DCSB. It will blow around, but as long as you're not trying towin a race, you should be good to go given you have the proper equipment (which it sounds like you do).

This thing seems long compared to what I am used to. The total overall length of this thing is 26ft 11in tip to tip. I just don't want to make a huge mistake Thanks for your input

I think I am going to walk away from buying this RV. I am sure my truck would pull it ok but it is just too much mass to have behind me. Thanks for all the help
