So I was driving down the road in wonderful PA. ( pot hole city ) and I kept hearing something coming from the back of my truck. So I pull over and look at my driver side leaf springs, and would you look at that the middle one broke off at the axle and pushed into my break lines. Wtf! 60k and this is a 2nd broken leaf spring. So if I get a 4 leaf spring package would that raise the bed up too much ? I want heavy duty springs for these great roads up here. And I'm trying to keep it under $500 for both left and right side. But here's my fix until I get money to fix it. Ohh and in case ur wondering I'm not a fan of beating on the truck on trails I've only been down two of them. And driving down the road I try and miss as many potholes as I can but its hard when there is one ever 2ft. I was able to fill in the 4 inch gap from where it broken to some what keep the other ones from breaking. Any advice on heavy duty long life springs ?

That doesn't look safe at all! For $500 you could get some really nice leafs.

Temporary its safe. Fixed a leaf pack on a full sized truck on a gnarly trail with a c clamp and ratchet straps.

Go to the dealer and get the rear TSB leafs for free if they will do it.

For $500, have a spring shop make you up a set or use Old Man Doug's method of slipping in Ford or Chevy leafs into your existing leaf pack to replace the worn out and broken ones.

Cant you still get them done for the older trucks or does it still have to be under warranty?

Has to be under warranty. The only thing they do out of warranty is recalls.

Well I can't park it cause I need to go to work. And I don't want to take it to the dealership. Seems like the factory ones don't last long I mean come on 60k and two broken leaf springs. I check it every time I get out to make sure nothing is out of place but other then that do any of you guys have a 4 leaf pack ?

5100s, ome884s, wheelers aal kit, and some rustoleum
go check out wheelersoffroad.com they have options from full packs to aal kits.

I know aal kits don't seem to solve a problem at first thought, but they may help disperse forces on the factory springs induced by bumps and axle wrap. I know my 3-leaf aal helped to limit axle wrap

It's actually not a warranty issue(TSB items are not tied to warranty), but it is extremely difficult to find a dealer that is willing to do it, and takes a lot of coercing because they will argue that it is only covered under warranty.

I highly doubt you'll find a dealer that will do a TSB outside of warranty coverage.

Is the leaf broken at the center pin hole? Can you pull out both the front and rear halves of the broken leaf? Do that, then tighten the U-bolts. It's safer than using a rope!

It's written directly on the TSB that only vehicles under the 3yr/36k warranty is covered. Did you talk with Toyota corporate and get them to make an exception?

Anyway, even the TSB leafs aren't that good compared to Wheelers or OME.
