Personally, I do not mind swapping out for the right weight requirement. It is all preference though. I'm still learning about suspension. SO I could be way off base.

I also have a set of Icon 13" 650# coils with about 15k miles on them. Plenty of life left. Awaiting PMs if anyone interested.

I'm about the put another for-sale thread up some with a few items...Icon coils, PIAA 520 ATP lights, stock rear leafs...they'll be in there.

Need some help on what Spring Rate.

Looking to change out my Springs from 600 to 650 or 700lb rate.

I have a set of 2.5 Coilovers with NO preload on it. I'm sitting on a set of TC Spindles as those are doing the major work.

What spring rate should I get? ICON 650lb or Eibach 700lbs? I have a prerunner bumper that weights about 80lbs.

why you wanna change them if you have no preload on your current ones? I changed my springs with King's 650lb because i had too much preload on my Icon's with their springs, I was able to minimize the preload on mine by 1 inch after installing the King's. The Icon's are 13 inch, 650lbs springs and the King's are 14 inch, 650lbs springs. Slightly stiffer of a ride now but not enough that I regret switching springs

These are linear rate springs so preload does not change the rate or ride quality. If you set the overall ride height the same from spring to spring when swapping them you likely would not know the difference at all. Where the ride height is in the suspension travel will affect ride quality if anything, meaning adjusting the coilover to much having your ride height to close to full droop will likely give you a firmer ride. You have bad arm angle for leverage at that point, and the feeling you get when the shock tops out while your driving is firm/rigid.

    650....

The 700lb coil can not be justified with a 80lb difference in weight over stock. (if 80lb minus the stock bumper even more so) The 650lb coil can cover that with a little preload no problem. Look to go 700lb when you have an increase in weight over stock of minimum 200lbs

I think that the "Bumper" thread should have weights of all the bumpers to assist people in making an educated decision on the proper springs..

X2 PSU - Love them BLACK ICON 700#! I was going to paint anything not silver and black on the truck anyways. This saves me a step.

FOr example. I look on a few sites and it says shipping weight on the ARB Bull Bar is 150# and the Warn M8000 is 74#

Overthinking it. All aftermarket fronties are 100 to 150. Most winches are 75 to 100 depending on the model. Add a decent front skid at 30 to 40 and you're at 200+.

Basically: Fully trail-armored trucks should step up the springs. If you have only a bumper, or skids/sliders, I wouldn't think the need is there yet.

I'm down with the blue. Helps my color matched gayness keep rolling.

I don't think I'm over thinking it. Some people, including myself, like to be conscience of what we are doing to our vehicles in real time. For example, there was a member that I met up with the other day. He says to me, any performance mods or anything? Nope, not yet, I reply'd. He drove my truck. I have ALL my gear, tools, fridge, EVERYTHING in it. He says, My truck is a little peppier/ faster. We got back and looked at his truck, I had over 500# more stuff in it. He had a small tool box, and bed cover, with a bull bar. Taking ithat into account, we determined I had about an additional 500# more.

SO when we are modding and improving one aspect, inevitably, we are taking away from something else, given it might be in gas mileage, or in HP to weight ratio.

I'm going SC soon anyways, so that is not a huge concern right now. Still, it is nice to know what your actual specs are while in the process of doing it.
