Well I decided to go ahead a cut them without having the intention or material to weld them up yet. They came out pretty good and I might just sling some black primer on them and rock them like this for a little while. I took it down the highway a back and it is awesome! I can't wait to wheel with them.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason for that? Better visibility or something?

I took mine wheeling a few weeks ago and I noticed that when I got the truck leaning to the side, the seatbelts would lock up and I couldn't lean far enough over to see where the tires were on the rocks...unless I took the belt off, which didn't seem like a good idea for a newb. My neck was getting sunburnt too and the shoulder belt was really chewing me up, lol.

Here's a vid, though it doesn't show any of the good stuff, other than my cherry hill climb at the beginning. Post #117

    Thanks.

Yea, mainly visibility but also for the badass factor lol. With the half doors or tube doors, you don't have to hang half of your body out of the window to see what is by your tire.

    Rgr.

Unfortunately, with that setup there's no way to keep from getting yourself and the inside of your truck covered in mud if you happen to find some you can't avoid. Heh, my truck got muddier in the mudhole I was trying to avoid on the way out than it did the rest of the day in the ones I drove into deliberately.
    :crapstorm:

Too bad there's not a way to have your cake and eat it too, yeah?

Yea I know. That is the only part that I'm dreading. I've talked to a couple people with tube doors and they claim that it doesn't get much more mud than if you have your windows down so I guess I'll find out.

And here is a picture of my truck with it's little baby street tires and rocking the half doors. As you can see I put a coat of flat black primer on them so they would match a little better than the silver lol.

My old battery took a crap last night so I went and bought a group 34/78 die hard platinum today. You would think changing the battery would be a simple process but nope. I still don't have it installed lol. I broke my ground terminal trying to put it on and I also have to modify the battery strap because the new battery is an inch shorter than the old one. Here is a pic of the new battery.

So I finally got my battery back in and going the other day then I realized that my alt wasn't charging which is probably were the battery problem started. So luckily mine had the lifetime warranty and it only takes me 10-15 mins. to get it out. So I put a new one in and everything is back working again. I also did a quick and extremely simple little mod while I was sitting in the truck. I was proud of myself for coming up with something so simple, yet works as good or better than what i had originally planned on doing, which was to try to fab up a metal bracket. Here are some pics of it.

Bought an iPad and a ram mount the other day and got it installed yesterday. I downloaded all of the trail maps that I use onto the iPad so now I don't have to deal with paper maps anymore. I also put all my music on it and its a 3G model so I'll have GPS once I get a SIM card. Here is a pic with one of my maps loaded up.

    Thanks.

Most of the sites have the maps in PDF format. I had to convert the Sicily map and its not the greatest quality but the others are awesome. Right now I just have hawk pride, superlift, and Sicily.

I'm digging your switches underneath your stereo... That's exactly where I was thinking about mounting my CB and the switch for my light bar. How did you attach that plastic plate on the front, to the rest of the assembly?

Thanks. I've been wanting to change to some rocker switches. The switches are actually in a piece of 16ga steel and the plate is a hair larger than the opening so it is pinched in between the radio install kit and the dash bezel. I've never had an issue with it.

Hmm interesting idea with the steel. I was just thinking of cutting up a piece of plastic and gluing it to the plastic pocket thing... And yeah I just ordered a rocker switch from OTRATTW and it fits perfectly in that little space under the stereo

Thanks. I ran it through the grommet on the back wall on the drivers side. You can get to it through the jack compartment.

That should work fine also. Yea that's where I plan on ordering my switches from.
