Ambient temp sensor

The outside temp display has gone out. I pulled the unit apart and did not notice any dislocated resisters as described in the tec thread. I did notice the top left corner of the actual displsy has a burn spot. I called the dealership and they said it could be the ambient temp sensor. Does any one know where it is? or any thought to what the problem is.

Definately solder them again, I went through this last week, thought everything looked fine, re-soldered them because it was out and it worked when I put it back in. I also had the burnt spot in the corner.

 

So... I have tried to resodder the 510 resitors and it didnt work any one have any other ideas? or have an unit for sale?

 

I knwo a guy who has one, i'll give you his email via PM and you can ask him if he'd sell you it. All you'd have to do is unscrew the old one out of your overhead and put in the new one...

 

OR it could be the sending unit. what does it show? Blank screen or "--"?

 

mine just shows a blank screen... hopefully your buddy will get back to me!! Ive even called the dealership here in Austin and they wont call me back

 

Would someone please take a picture of the "burn mark" on the display? A picture of the whole display would be great.

I think I can clear something up about that, but not until I see the display.
