So should I go 10 or 12? I don't wheel at all right now but I'm gonna start my build because when I get a better job and more time I will start. I just want to build it right the first time so I don't have to go back and rebuild later.

63's and 12's isn't a whole lot of money and work awesome. That's my plan eventually.

Yeah 12's are what I'm leaning towards.

Supra, if I go ahead and order 12's could I just measure from different locations on the crossmember and axle tube till I find the places that work with 12" travel shocks? I'm thinking I'll just do that; Order 12" 5125's and make them work.

12's will be more ideal. Yes you can measure different locations. It's best to get the exact length from the shock you want and build a crossmember to the correct distance. I'd still keep them out on the axle as far as you can, and keep them "semi-triangulated" Otherwise the shock becomes completely useless for dampening. Similar to what I have.

Yeah I was reading your build and was going to ask.. Why did you mount your shocks l l instead of / \?

Edit: That picture above looks like you've angled them in now. The first few pics in your build show l l

I'm running 12" shocks with my 63s set up like | | and angled to the rear cause I still use the truck to tow trailers and such. But you could still run them /\. 12"s aren't that bad at packaging under the truck.

Yea, initially when I re-did them I put them || since they allow the shock to dampen more. But now they have a slight /\ to them.

Ha I am. Long term is a hp d44 swap with 5.29's and 37's. Just don't have the funds or time right now.

Any opinions on Precision Gear brand gears? I found a set of 5.29's new in box on craigslist. He has them listed for $200 with a set of 5.29's for the elocker rear (which I can't use) so I'm thinking if he will separate, I could get the fronts for cheap.

D44 is going to be either a 5.13 or 5.38 iirc. But either will work with 5.29s in the rear stock axle. But a HP44 would be a full width axle. Unless you plan on changing out the rear axle to a full width, plan on running spacers.

Yeah I knew the gears wouldn't match up but I was unsure of the numbers of gears for the 44. I still haven't decided on the rear. Either 9" or d60. Doesn't really matter though because axles are nowhere in my near future haha.

Nice. I will probably just go with the new 5125's. New and a little cheaper so I can put that money towards metal to build my hangers. Have an opinion on precision gear brand r&p? I found some 5.29's cheap on craigslist.

Nah doesn't matter much to me gear brand. Haven't heard if any issues with any.

And yea..offer 200. Cause in the long run they would be better. Can rebuild them. And change valving.
