Never owned a Chevy truck, but haven't had any problems with the GM's I've owned, or that the Mrs currently owns

As far as service, out is really dealer dependent in my experience

Yeah no, I make sure I have a rate I can easily pay every month, if not pay more to get it done faster

My 06 Colorado blew the head at 78k. The first dealer, Desantis in Brockton, told me 3 grand and that's that..paid him $100 for the computer hookup and leakdown test. Less than 5 minutes of research and I find the bulletin about defective heads. He looks it up, tells me he never heard of it and has never had a head go, and will order the parts.

4 weeks later I call and the new service guy there says he's not doing it unless I pay him and deal with GM, doesn't think it's the head..haha.

Mclaughlin in Whitman (as it turned out the first guy went there) did it, $2000 later for the cam and timing chain. Guy tells me he's sure it is all related and can't help me but GM will reimburse me. Well GM says no he could have gotten it comped but they won't do it for me. When I call the guy back and ask for help he tells me his job is to fix cars, not do freebies..and that he's seen a lot of these heads go without this happening. Same guy who 2 months ago never saw one go, right?

Well, GM agrees with me that he lied to me and all that but still feels they should stick with their guy. Actually told me it's common to need $5000 of engine work for a 5 yr old vehicle anyways..

Oh yeah..the first dealer, once realizing it's a warranty, is supposed to reimburse the customer the $100 diagnostic fee per the bulletin. When I called to ask about it, the guy said he don't care what it says, he's not telling me what's wrong with my truck so someone else can get paid to repair it. My response was that when they tell me they don't care about the warranty and they ain't doing it then my hand is forced. The owner of Desantis talked to me and said if I have proof that another GM dealer did the head under warranty he'd give me the $100 back..I got it to him and 3 days later the same service mgr calls me back to tell me go screw. Interesting..

    Oh yeah. Especially now.

In the 1990's, my girlfriend's sister and hubby filed Chapter 11. 90 days after they had a car loan. Granted it was higher interest, but they still got it and with no or almost no $$ down. Not 2 years later they got a mortgage..and it's not like their income increased either.

I wouldn't say you can't recover now if you get in that kind of trouble, but it's a lot harder to.

Not trying to stick up for GM here, but sounds like the guy you dealt with was a dick.

My dad leased an Avalanche with unlimited mileage. Upon trade they tried to penalize him with a over mileage fee. Apparently the dealership he went to forged copies of the paperwork. GM tried to stick up for the dealership though. Original copies and a threat of lawsuit changed their minds!

A customer shouldn't have to go through that kind of bullshit. After the hell we went through dealing with Chevy Corporate (the dealership was as helpful as they could be) on both of our 1 ton work trucks you couldn't pay me to drive a Chevy.

I'll agree totally that the dealers both gave me a beating and then some. That said, GM certainly could have taken care of me and not only kept a 22 year customer but made me their biggest cheerleader to other people. They didn't even make any effort to meet me in the middle..and it's not like I'm the only person who had this issue, so clearly it was common and was known to be such by GM where they issued an extended warranty on the head per TSB.

Uhmmmm I think just above your keyboard when creating a post, there is a plus sign where you can add an attachment.

Just play around with it, you'll find the attachments button.

It's always while creating a post. Just like this one, look for the icon around here
