What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I ordered a 90 degree coaxial cable elbow so I could fit my Uniden in the ashtray slot, but I ended up breaking the metal 90 degree elbow

 

Received my locking glove box latch from rman808. Going to get it re-keyed tomorrow.

Should come in handy for whenever I do get tube doors...

I can't wait to do it either! I (and by I, I mean my dad haha) have the tools as well. I've researched the shit out of and if I had a 35 to mock up and didn't live an hour away from my parents' I would have already gotten started! Like I said, my only concern right now is shimming the gears. I can do it on my rc cars all day long but my truck's just a liiiiiittle bit different...

What thickness sheetmetal did you use Cody?

No, I'm not doing dual batteries. Dual batteries are only good if you are running stuff with the truck turned off and i never do that. I already upgraded to the gm144 alternator and i plan on putting a bigger battery in eventually which is all I'll ever need.

I don't remember which code it throws but I do remember it being a weird one. It throws a code because the high refresh rate uses up the bandwidth, or whatever, that the ecu needs to run the tests. So, then, it can't run the tests properly.

 

Ah ok. Man, it looks like those GM144's can really crank out some amps.

Hasn't come back yet and could be a bad O2 sensor, but I am wondering if the gauge's refresh rate interfered with the ability of the ECM to adjust the air fuel ratio in a timely manner.

i regeared my 02 taco with 5.29 and now running on 35 tires. i did the rear gear myself and have the shop did the front, parts with labor and fluid in total of $742 for the rear and $250 for parts and fluid for front. this is to show you how much it costs to regear or the price might be different depend on parts and labor in your area.

 

Exactly! That's why I wanna do it myself. I'm looking at a set of 5.29's local with install kits for $325. Then add $50 for fluid and I regeared my truck for under $400 if I do it myself... The rear diff is easy to get out and the front shouldn't be bad. I just need to read on how to set backlash.

i don't what brand u r after but mines are Yukon Gears.

 

The fronts are precision gear and the rears are yukon. The only downside is the rear is for the 8" e locker rear so I would either have to resell and buy 8.4" gears or buy an e locker axle

 

i would say keep your axle and buy new gear it is easier and cheaper to work with.

 

Had a little time at work today so i fabbed up a simple light bar that bolts directly to my bumper. Tucks tight to bumper, allowed me to put my TRD radiator skid back on and looks alot better than the bull bar i had on there which hindered approach angle severley.
