Both my Pioneer and JVC have tons of colors to choose from. Had no problem setting either to match.

Thanks! Yeah I'm gonna work on it this fall and take it out in the spring.

Waiting to break the news to my dad lol

For now my list of repairs/service is:
    -oil change
-drain 2 year old gas out
    -clean the gummed up carbs
-replace cables and the cable springs on the carbs (the throttle is a little sticky)
    -grease everything
    -replace wind screen
-replace shifter (it's a bit bent)
    -replace battery

Come next spring it should be ready to roll safely

Ya mine had a bunch of colors. The orange option just happens to be an exact match for all the dash lights

    Does this thing run now?

Why replace the cables? If they're in good condition (no kinks), just lulbe them and see if they free up. It'd save you some $$.

Just a suggestion, but I'd keep some Startron handy to add to the gas in the bike. It's kept my bike running well and the cabrs clean, even with the ethanol they put in gas these days. It's cheap, like $7/bottle and each bottle treats something like 120 gallons so it'll last you a while.

$7 is right. You can use it 1 oz per 3 or 6 gallons. I go 1 per 3 gallons b/c it's for my small engine stuff which doesn't get used more than once a week. I bought a bottle last year and it's still going.

It runs but it scared the shit out of me when I rode it hahaha. I started in first gear, let go of the throttle and it was holding steady at 3k. I was like WTF!? Pulled the clutch in and tried to turn the throttle off, it revved down slowly.

Also while it was idling, I shut the choke off and it didn't like that. It stalled out after about 15 seconds.

I'm gonna try Techron from Chevron, I've been reading about how well it works. Hopefully it's just a little gunk from it sitting for ~2 years

Pulling the carbs from these bikes fucking sucks.

And hopefully my cables are ok. I'm gonna shoot some WD40 in them and see what happens

Don't use WD-40, that shit is worthless. Get a decent cable and chain lubricant, you're going to need it anyways for the chain (do NOT use WD-40 on the chain). There is also a tool that you'll need to lube the cables. It's a clamp that holds the cable end and forces the lube through the cable. It's cheap and can be found at most bike shops.

While you're ordering stuff, might as well get a kick stand pad. It's just an over sized plastic 'foot' that you should put under your stand if you leave it on asphalt on a hot day. Otherwise, the asphalt gets hot, your stand sinks and the bike tips over. It's not needed on concrete. Should only cost about $1, the last bike shop I visited gave me one for free (good advertising for them I suppose).

My outboard sat for seven years before I finally fired it back up last year. It should be fine. Just disassemble it and make sure all the little passages and needles are clean. You may have to rebuild if it's really gummed up in the tiny passages. If that's the case no soaking or spraying with carb cleaner will work, and you'll have to rebuild then. Really not very difficult though. Just takes a little patience. Rebuild kits are relatively cheap too, so it may be worth it to just rebuild them for piece of mind. You can always save money there, and then bring it to a shop to get them adjusted of you don't feel comfortable adjusting/tuning them after a rebuild.

Like mike said, get a manual and it should walk you through how to service the carbs.

Ok I'll grab one of those in the fall.

I'll also get the kickstand pad. Might have to replace the kickstand as well, it has a lot of "resistance" haha

I hope seafoam or the carb cleaner will work. A least it runs.

I read a write up where a guy had this issue and he just filled the carbs with the Techron and let it sit for 2 days, drained, filled again for an hour, and drained. It was night and day for him. I just have no idea how to work with carbs

Soaking may work, may not. If the small passages are gummed up soaking will not fix that.

So $300 for the pair?? You can buy a set for that can't you?

Yep (I used to have an older model of that bike).

Alex, if you have to tear the carbs down, I'd have a shop do it. You likely don't have the tools to re-synchronize the carbs. I'll be doing the same with my bike this winter and will pay someone to do that part of it.
