Good read, To the young ones I can stress enough Save or Invest some of your $$. Its hard to hear that a lift kit and tires & wheels are not a investment. Real estate, bonds, gold will pay off when you are ready to put your ass in a rocker on the porch.

 

Fuck Mud!


I have always heard that mud will fuck shit up, well I found out first hand. Mud sucks. In preparation for my road trip in 2 weeks I brought the truck in last night to do my front brakes, clean out the rear drums, and balance the tires.

Well, the front pads were clumped with mud and the rear had so much mud that the left rear drum kicked my ass trying to get it off. Once it was all done I pulled the truck out and my brakes felt worse than before. I am now going to take apart the rears again, replace the shoes, hardware, and wheel cylinders. And resurface the drums of course. From now on, I shall be avoiding most deep mud when possible. A little here and there isn't too bad, but that deep shit I keep getting stuck in is now my enemy.


Rant done.

 

i've never taken my drums apart.......i'm scared of what i'll find come that day

you need some slotted rotors for you next front overhaul. mine never fade or clump with mud/clay/dirt/etc.

 

Roth IRA, 401k, and a couple of mutual funds working for me at the moment, but always looking for more options on the long-term front.

 

I might just do that. I did the normal front brake job for now. Replaced the pads and resurface the rotors. Next time around I will look into upgrading everything.

Jason , I have tried a couple times to remove my rear drums to inspect my shoes
Both times I failed, they are froze on

Any hints/tricks to removing them ?

hook a winch to each drum. start pulling and have someone hitting each drum with a sledge at the samne time.

That being said I don't think I have much breaking power in the rear...and have replaced a couple seals and crap inside drums.

 

This hit me 10 years ago. Our 99 4x4 was a nice truck but I mashed all 4 corners in the woods punched a hole in the gas tank, got all that out of me. So the 07 crew will never be any closer to the woods then the dirt road into the hunt camp.

Stay away from $$ peeps that want to take over your $$. BUT do find a good one and invest your own $ on his info . If your CO. has some kind of no load plan go with that. Real estate is good but only If you are in one place so you can keep track of the renters, never try to do it from out of town.

 

I applied my parking break going 5 mph or less this morning and could not stop. Figure I need to fix that before going on this 9 hour road trip in 2 weeks.

 

haven't payed a $$ peeps a dime. do-it-yourself doesn't stop when i leave the garage.
