    Thank you OZ-T! :)

Thank you very much! This thread is very helpful to many people!

Dude! Lucky! I wish I had more fabbers local to my area with ideas as innovative as yours!

How are you planning on making your own rear towers? I want to mount the fronts I'll want to get on the frame for the rear but I can't think of any solid solutions as far as tabbing up some sort of spacer or tower is concerned, my shocks will be 10" stroke Fox 2.0 externally mountable resi's and I have noticed many bottom out the shock before they even close to hit the bump stop, so if I nab up a set of fronts to mount on the rear of the frame, I will want to add AT LEAST another 2 1/2 inches of additional "shimming" to make the bumpstops overall height 5" total.

    This thread got interesting fast!

If anything, the density of the rears would more then likely be much softer, I'd much rather prefer fronts in the rear, then buying the softer dedicated rears.

It's just how I would prefer to have them mounted. I don't like the idea of the bumpstops being on the leafs.

Thinking about it, you could always run a bunch of 1/4 thick large fender washers in between the frame and the bump stop, but that would look super ghetto.. Haha.

I'm not too worried about the density to tell you the truth. I may do it just to see though and let you guys know. I actually plan to give them a call tomorrow anyway.

Definitely :) The ease of upgradability and tune ability of height is just a few benefits that come to mind right away :)

My rear superbumps bolt to my ubolt flip plates just like the Timbrens do. Drilled a couple of holes and poof easy on easy off. And to flip your bumps to the striker plate is a piece of cake really....you drill one hole on each side and your done. If thats the route you want to take.

Here is a direct link to my superbump post in my build thread for anyone that cares:)

Gussets.....they fix everything....just like duct tape! I have access to tons of stainless steel shims about the width of the superbumps. Gimme a PM if you want some. i'm pretty sure the Timbrens are not much wider if at all.

I plan on making the towers like Wheelers, but didn't think it was worth the price difference. I'm a pearl harbor machinist. I can make pretty much anything ;)
And yeah, this thread has been super helpful. I forgot all about installing my rear superbumps.

I wouldn't be worried about the frame strike plate too much. If the frame is going to bend over time it would do it with the stockers given that those are ultra hard.

I might have to have you send me out some gussets if I can't find some sort of solution soon. :)

Dude could you possibly make me some towers that will raise up the bumpstops to 5" ?? The bumpstops themselves are 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 tall, a tower would fill in the rest of the gap. You should make them height adjustable too!!

That is what I was thinking for mine. It would be a lot of work tho. Something like a screw jack with thick a running thread and a half nut to lock it. It would be pretty expensive tho.
I don't have any CNC in my shop, all old school lathes and bridgeports.

Possible, but you wont get much adjustability with pipe threads since they are tapered.
And what's this "digital read out" you speak of? The only thing digital in my shop is my personal caliper!
Don't make me bring out my slide rule!

Uhh... All I got out of these last few comments was that you don't do CNC and that some of the possibilities being thrown out would be a no go.

How about something adjustable sort of like a threaded body with jam nuts and a long threaded cap at both ends or just one end.

Almost like the way tie rods or toe rods operate! The more you turn or less, the more and less length you get out of them, which in this case would be height.

The big monarch and the older Bridgeport has... or at least used to have DRO. But they are ancient and have been broken for a long time. We are supposedly getting a brand new Summit late with a giant bore through the spindle and is supposed to have DRO.
I have do access to my buddies HUGE CNC shop tho.

These guys make parts for the telescopes on Haleakala and the Big island!
Its just out of the way for me, so I don't hang out there as often as I should.
I am actually thinking of buying myself Sherline's turnkey mini CNC lathe and mill combo for home use. I think it would be a good intro to CNC for me.

Alright guys, here's the deal. I have been looking high and low all night for great alternatives to these super bumps and have surprisingly come up with a few.

It appears Microcellular foam has been being used for the longest of time (truthfully I don't know how I didn't remember after seeing it so much) I have found a GREAT solution to those looking to upgrade to much larger bump stops but still want to run the softer foam style bump stops. If you want to upgrade on the cheap and are willing to do a little work to make them fit, look up GM P/N 15712438 it's rear bump stops off a '99-'06 Silverado 1500, these things are HUGE stock! With a little extra shimming of an inch using some nice thick 1/4" washers you could get a nice 5" bump stop made of the same material as the wheelers super bumps for about $20!

    669763d1336057305-can-only-buy-one-pair-_ce5efb7b8d58b67f3005a83ada0668d22a845979.jpg

Additionally, if you are looking to shorten the bump stop some, about 3/4" shorter, making it 3.25" tall, the black base itself is removable, which allows for essentially some adjustability in the entire bump stop. If you want to shorten it some, you can MORE, you can always trim the bump stop itself. :)

For those of you looking for something a little smaller, yet larger then stock, Dorman also offers one as well P/N 31064, it's white and it might not look all that fantastic, but it is more or less about an inch taller then the stock rubber bump stop for the rear, dimensions can be found on the Amazon page:

    http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-31064-Help-Control-Bumper/dp/B0026M9BDC

Hey guys, it's all about finding better solutions to keep the habit going for cheaper right?! :)

That I do not know, if they are that would make these things that much more legit, but still, a 4" foam/urethane bump stop should be plenty for guys wanting to run a larger setup, even if not, a couple shims should do. I will be picking up a set of these hidden gems tomorrow at a local GM dealer on the way to the shop to install my 3 leaf AAL's. I get my extended remote resi shocks and all the supporting hardware for the rear lift tomorrow. I am super stoked I found these when I did!

However, lets say the stud is non removable on the bump stops. Couldn't you run some sort of extended stud on it? I'd imagine so.

    EDIT:

I took a look at a picture of one of them shot from the top side of it, it has a hole just like the super bumps, which will make the bump stop stud fully removable!

    EDIT EDIT:

Yep, the entire bump stop is fully build able! This pic confirms it. The pic up top is probably of an older or more recent assembly.

Oh yeah huh! A coupler would work too, but either way, I will report all my findings tomorrow along with plenty of pictures and part numbers and info of everything I use that way it's crystal clear to anyone looking to do a similar build and use similar parts like me. :)

I'll make a new thread which ties into all my previous threads I have posted recently. It should help everyone immensely..

So I'll probably end up using a 2 inch bolt throughout the entire bump stop assemblies and run 4 1/4" thick fender washers the diameter of the plates of the bumps on both sides and mount them on the frame instead of the leafs.

Bumping so this is easier to find. I just ordered 2 sets of "front" bumps and will be custom mounting one set on the rear.
