fog lights

is there anyway just to run the fog lights w/o turning on headlight?looks like they would be ample light going down the road.i do this with my jeep all the time

there are way too many fog light how-to's out there! when i get a chance, im gonna write the end-all be-all how-to thats going to be so simple to understand that anyone with an i.q. under 80 could do it. my fog lights turn on and off whenever with the button, they turn off with the ignition, and the button dims with the dash lights. what more is there? and the way theyre wired is so simple and doesnt require adding any relay under the hood fuse panel, or pulling out any relays and bending pins back to solder to them. the only part required is an add-a-circuit. i can easily see why someone would be intimidated to install fogs after seeing all of these poorly written and exremely confusing guides.

 

I showed a random access cab guy at a gas station how to do it the otherday, can't be that confusing.

actually post #2 here i think is better. he has the right idea, only wire #1 from the top of the oem switch goes to the green wire from the unused harness behind the dash, and the number three wire from the oem switch goes to the green/white wire.
its that simple. forget about all of those complex under the hood adding relays and soldering crap guides.

 

sorry but i misspoke on the #1 and #3 wires. pictures speak better than words so here it is:



#1 wire- green from unused harness behind the dash
#2 wire- green/white wire from said harness
#3 wire- add-a-circuit wire
#4 wire- goes to whatever color wire that runs from your relay to inside the cab

i dont get why all the write ups say the #4 wire goes to ground???? doesnt make any sense to me. if you wire your switch exactly like that picture you can turn your fogs on and off whenever you want, the button will dim with the rest of your dash lights, and my fogs have NEVER turned on after 4 hours like some people claim has happened. if someone could write the defacto super simple how-to for everyone that would be great. and to prove this way works:

"splicing in four wires". you do realize those are the wires from the back of switch that have to be connected right? your statement makes no sense.
