    Man you totally should. All self built in your own garage with Chinese plasma cutter. That's just about as bad ass as it gets. That's an actual build, not just bought and assembled.

    An antenna works the best mounted in the middle of the mass of the vehicle. The best place to mount it is in the center of the truck. If you mount it off the rear bumper it will have more range which ever way your truck is pointing. Thats why alot of people mount it in the front of the bed and fold it back.

    I thought about that, but I don't think there's a good place to mount the antenna between the bed and cab, I'll have to check when I get home in Monday or Tuesday.

    If your planning on talking more then 100 miles it matters, if its local the rear is fine, just remember as Gary said, your directional if not high and the middle if you want full signal efficiency out.
