    Hi Guys;
My name is Tom from Massachusetts. (dont hold that against me)... Anyways, pretty mechanical hear, sort of a shade tree mechanic. I keep my vehicles a while, and next purchase is going to be a Double cab long bed, 4x4 v6. This is a second vehicle replacing a 01 Dodge dakota DC 4x4, 220k miles.
Wanted to come over to Toyota as 2gen was not available when I bought the dak.
What should I look for, any special package options? I see there are about 5 packages. I would be interested in all except the highest, I dont need all the tech. I will occasionally tow, like a sport stiff ride, and might go for the roof racks, (not sure)
Dont know what people are paying, I am assuming in the 30-35k range?
Anyways, I'll be checking out a lot of threads here, appreciate any advice, as I learned a ton from Dakota forums in the past.
Sorry for the wordiness, Happy miles to all.

    Thanks,
    Tom.

If you want a LB you'll need the Sport package. I'd just get the straight Sport package. There is one with Nav but it sounds like you don't want that. I pad a little under $33k for my short bed which came with the exhaust tip and black running boards. I got my roof rack after the fact and love the functionality and the looks of it.

Whatever you decide you've made a wise choise.

    Hey Tom,

    Welcome!

I just bought my tx pro at Herb Chambers. Payed under $30k (after trade). You should start at $27k and work you're way up if you decide on the sports package. Love that truck! Accessories equals more cash for them to put in their pocket so I recommend you study the packages then note the accessories in the trucks you buy. Don't pay for it if you don't want it. See Jason if you go to herb c's in Auburn. Good luck!

    Hi guys,
I got a 2013 dc, lb sr5, 4x4. Tow pkg and mats. Quite a shock as I came from a Dakota dc. I did not realize the taco was so low. I have the steel wheels, and will probably upgrade in a couple years.
Cab you guys tell me the best tonneau cover to get and still allow use of rail system. I am partial to extant. Thinking its between the express roll up or the tuff tonneau. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Tom.

If that's the plan, you don't want to be here too much. You'll have an OME lift and rims within a couple weeks and begin to fade in and out of consciousness in the buy/sell/trade section. The vendor section will become addictive and your wallet will begin weighing less...

    Fair warning

Ohh, and are you looking for a hard tonneau or soft? Most allow you to retain the rail system other than the roll up ones.

Yea buddy--what color is your rig? Look for a timberland mica with some tasty meats and it's prolly me. I bought at Chambers too (in '11) got similar deal--hi 20s then I put down a chunk and got them to give 8K for my '03 Ram. She's all mine now.
