Since you two both said "boom", it must be possible.

I only said boom cause it seemed like the thing to do. I know nothing about if it would work or not.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
I think it would b easier to do away with all ur rims and replace them with sprockets and gears do a little body trimming and put tracks on that thing. it would also go farther than a silly 4x4

Donor drive train for an AWD 4 runner may work.

zomg AWD is not the same as 4x4 :goingcrazy::frusty::smack: please use the correct terms people.

awd has a diff in the middle. 4x4 has a transfer case. awd is what audis, subarus, and rally cars have (and some misguided GM pickups). 4x4 is what trucks have.

is awd possible on a tacoma? sure. how much money & time you got?

is a 4x4 conversion of a 5-lug possible? sure. how much money & time you got? at least the parts exist for this one, but you'll probably be stripping off everything below the frame.

ok, i'ma go take a midol now :anonymous:

Your close. AWD has a transfer case, but its not selectable and has a coupler to slip for street use. Exploders, jeep cherokees, and denalis have this. The parts are the exact same as 4wd on exploders except for the transfer case. Jeeps use cvs in the front knuckle instead of ujoints (but the housing is the same) and there transfer case is 4hi or 4lo. Don't know much about the denalis but all 3 can be converted to 4wd just changing the tranfer case to a selectable one.
That being said if the frames are the same, the best you could do would be convert to six lug the get the front drive or try and put the narrower explorer crap under it and then figure out what trans/transfer case would bolt up. You could put the 4cyl trans and transfer behind it, but a 4wd transfer case isn't made to drive on the street in 4wd.

FJ Cruiser with a 6 speed manual has AWD.
FJ Cruiser with an auto has 4x4.

So I guess the 6 speed manual is considered an Audi, Subaru, or a rally car and the automatic is a considered a truck.

Just wanted to stir the pot a little.

And if you really want a Syclone, you can probably snatch one up for about 10,000-15,000 and put a Toyota emblem on it.
