I assume that Jerry kept the "plans" for that new bracket and could produce another? Mine is tweaked a little in the same place and I could probably benefit from this upgrade.

I'm sure he still has the dfx. We had to do quite a bit of "fitment" that involved everything from a hand torch, to grinders, to sledge hammer and ratchet straps. And bending 1/4" plate is no small feat either even with a 20 ton press.

I'm fairly certain I figured out why it bends too (at least initially). The little U-bracket that cups the rack bushing actually has two different size holes for the bolts. The bottom hole is actually larger than the top. Yet the factory mounts, both top and bottom use the same size bolt. The bottom bolt has a ton of slack on the bracket. We ended up with a 5/8" bolt for the bottom, and 9/16" for the top and they fit snug as a bug.

I learned a cool trick and that is to make a cut along the bend that is maybe a 1/4 of the way through the material. Does not need to be the length of the bend either. Makes it easier to bend. You finish with a weld bead along the outside of the bend radius.

Not sure whether it's structurally the same but it seems like a reasonable method.

Done with the motor mount gussets. NEVER AGAIN!
Giant pain in the ass even without a front diff. Upside down, very little room, face smashed against the welding hood. Probably my worst welds ever too.

Had to be done tho. Driver's mount was bent, which made fitment even more of a pain in the ass.

I set my shirt on fire. :anonymous:

As for the rack mount...it's stupid. Only the bottom bolt had slop. The top bolt was tight so it wouldn't allow any rack play.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I do have the .dxf for them but there was a lot of hand sanding to get it perfect. The new mount is rock solid the fit is very snug to the rack. I'm sure if anyone could bend it it would be Jason but i think it's pretty strong.

Truck's up and running again! Got it buttoned up and filled the fluids. New rack and mount feels great. Did a quick toe alignment and truck is tracking better than it has in probably a year. Quick night run to christen the new parts.

Also opened up the new Tepui RTT and got it all setup. Big plans ahead...

The tent is just sitting on my bedcage in the photo to assemble the pieces and make sure it all works. It wouldn't actually be mounted there when/if it's on the truck, it would go on the same uprights I use for the snowboard rack:
