My 08 springs were changed but within the warranty period. Outside the warranty period, I don't know if they will still do it.

No squeal yet, but it took a thousand miles or so for it to show up originally. So the jury is still out -- but it is nice to have it gone for now.

I took mine in today for the same issue and got the same response. The guy that told me is a friend of mine so the day Toyota calls with the fix he will call me and I will post that they have a fix for it so you can go back in to get yours fixed.

Just got the driveshaft assembly TSB completed on my truck. It completely fixed the clunk I had when stopping or starting. Def recommend getting this done if you have the same problem. TSB-0119-10

I looked for a forum that specializes in TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) and wanted to throw this site up as a reference for those that may have some of these situations such as wind noise, audio distortion, driveline, or even paint peeling off of instrument cluster.

    General recalls:
    http://www.tacomahq.com/category/tacoma-recalls-and-tsbs/

This one addresses the wind noise

You sure do not want this happening to you (pictured is an early 2005 Tacoma that did not have enough phosphate applied)

    This TSB suggests
    The Fix

    1. Replace the Rear Engine Insulator (Rear Transmission Mount).
    2. Test drive the vehicle again to see if issue is resolved. If not, follow the next step.
    3. Replace the rear leaf springs.
    4. Test drive again to see if vibration is gone. If it still exists, follow the next step.
    5. Install the steering wheel damper by removing the steering wheel pad and screwing it into place.
    6. Test drive and confirm the repair.
It seems that Toyota feels that one of the above fixes WILL fix the issue.

Is there a place to find all TSB's that affect a certain year? I have a 2012 TRD and am looking for a comprehensive list of all TSB's just for my model year. Does it exist?

I am not sure if the first page of this post is being kept up to date as TSB's are updated to include more model years. Toyota tries to incorporate design changes for later models, but many times they don't and it takes a while for them to update the TSB.

Toyota is not going to publicly publish the list. If you have a really nice dealer, they may do a search for you and give you the list, but that would be a rare case.

You can get a subscription to the online tech manuals for a fee. That link is http://www.techinfo.toyota.com. You get 2 days of access for $15. I have done this before, and it was kind of a pain to get all the documentation downloaded, but I think it was worth it since I owned 3 Toyota vehicles at the time. I may do it again, and if I do, I will definitely provide the info here.

I know the traffic on this thread isn't that high any more but I have an 06 DCLB that I got a few mo tha ago. Reading through this its hard to say whether the original owner had any of these done. So my question is have many of you who are past your warrantee bought the parts to do any of these TSB's yourself? Or are they hard to justify the cost if your no longer covered.

Some of these there are better solutions for than what Toyota came up with.

Sorry for the delay, a lot else going on here.

No, I don't remember a TSB #, but they did fight me a bit on it. Turns out the springs are the same as the ones before, so I went in again trying to get the extra spring and they "tested" it and said they could not find problems. When I came to pick it up they gave me a copy of the cargo capacities of various Tacoma setups and apparently my truck can only hold 1300 lbs (passengers and driver included).

So I am sure that they will use that as an excuse in the future saying that I am over-loading the truck. What good is a truck if you can't carry things?
I am just going to bite the bullet and get an AAL.
Other than the rear springs the truck can take way more than the published 1300 lbs.

So yeah, they did address my problem, but only gave me a new set of the same springs. They did not increase the 1300 cargo capacity. :(

Thanks! That's kind of what I figured. I plan on taking it to toyota to get it checked out before I do anything.

Agreed. The one TSB in particular that I was looking Into (and figured I can only get the parts from toyota) was the steering linkage/shaft having some slop or slap offroad or on rough roads. I'm going to take it into a dealership and see if any of the TSB's were ever performed and go from there. Thanks!

Another option is 4WD, OMD, Doug's Chevy Leaf addition.

Yeah, it is simple math, but I still wish they would account for driver and passengers and give you a full half ton of cargo (including a full gas tank) before calling it a half ton truck. If the truck seats 5 people at an average of 150 lbs. each, it should be able to carry an additional 450 lbs. before hitting the bump stops.

That said, I just drove back from a bike trip with 5 guys total, mountain bikes and gear, plus a RTT and bed rack. I was probably sitting at 1400-1500 pounds. It handled it pretty well, but it did hit the bump stops a couple of times.

1,300 pounds is a joke, I had deaver springs installed on my tacoma stack of 8 leaves nice progressive compression and now I can load up to 3/4 ton

Funny a factory stock ford ranger (in brazil ) has a 1 ton capacity with 4 stack leaf springs. I guess the Tacoma is just a passenger car until you modify it
