Hey Gage, I dumped my point and shoot after the wyo trip and seeing the pictures. I have had more fun learning a new camera and shooting manually than I thought I ever would because when you get it right its so damn good. I literally got the exact same thing Monte is using. the 60D isnt really a full "professional" level camera (IMO) since it's not full frame sensor among other little things but i couldn't justify a full frame since it's just a hobby for me. Just go for what you can realistically afford, cameras last a lifetime too practically

    hey man.

What are you looking to get out of the camera really?

the 60D i have is about 8-900 bucks with the lens i have. But its a nicer "ameture'' camera no doubt. it should get a bit cheaper here quick cause the 70D is due out like in Nov :frusty:

But..if your wanting like a good all around DSLR including video, but not QUITE as photo intensive but still a very nice camera id suggest the T4i or even the T3i if you want as they are pretty much the same but the T3i will be cheaper.

get that and a nice editing program and your golden.

I can say i held Joey's T3i and Bens T2i..and DAMN they were light light light compared to the 60D. more plastic in them and such.

the rebels are great little cameras though..but they are the "cheaper" DSLRs..but still..nice cameras.

all depends on budget and needs really.. i REALLY wanted a full frame..just a thousand more bucks that i do not need to spend on a camera..yet haha

Okay. A next question. How deep into it are you wanting to get?

    Well what's your budget then?

So far I'm not seeing a big reason to get the 60D over a t4i

Tey have the same sensor. But the 60d still takes better photos due to a few slight differences. Also has lots more control external buttons. Has a metal frame too.

But for 600 dollar budget. I'd go with the t4i or t3i to save yourself some money.

Ya well for what your gonna use it for. I wouldn't get too much camera ya know? I'm sure the rebels would be great for you. Just shoot raw and your golden. They still do everything another dslr does. Just simpler. And well within your budget.

    What's hers?

And ya..so,e good ones though. All in all the 60D is just a more "professional" cropped sensor dslr. The 7d being the professional crop sensor.

Hey monte, I saw in my researches that with snow and really white things (my truck) try shooting with 1 or 2 + exposure comp :D it said that way you dont get left with the nasty gray photoshop will give you... also shooting night stuff, drop the exposure comp by 1.

That's the same camera Joey had on the trip

Huh that's odd. So you would over expose the image? Huh..try it out and let me know how it goes.

    The night settings make sense.

something about the sensor thinking it needs to compensate extra so you need to tell it yes, i know its bright, shoot it that way...

also enable highlight alert in ur menus. it will blink at you if you're exposure is way off

I don't have photoshop. I have Lightroom. It's better for working with lots of raw files and organizing them.

Photoshop is still king for fine tuning and super in depth editis. But I didn't do super in depth. Light room does most editing you need though. I don't need to get that critical yet. I'm sure ill get it later.

I want media composer 6 first though.

    Yea that would be cool!

I use edu discounts..but sometimes that's not very much. LR was only 80 bucks tho for students.

Media composer is 300 edu tho

I need to get a job next week. If I can find one to make 500 a month I'm golden for toy money
