That's what I'm thinking but when I do go offroad I want to be able to not have to worry about the sidewall puncture
I'm used to my km2s and I beat them down pretty good
And never let me stuck before
I like the trail graps but they're expensive

 

Thanks man i think i am going to go with the allpro leaf pack. install them and see how the lean turns out then go from there.

 

I had the all pro standards! They were awesome I wish I woulda never sold them, that's what I plan on buying again

 

Finally got my Toytec lift installed w/5100's, Eibach's, and aal. Kit also came with a diff drop and proportioning valve bracket, but if anyone has any suggestions for a better bracket, let me know. Now I definitely need some bigger shoes!

BAMF/jerry sells a BPV relocate that's better than pretty much any other on the market

That's good to hear! I wasn't sure and was try a compare to other pics.

 

Any idea on the cost? I feel like the Tacoma one does the job, but is actually slightly bent cuz a bolt that is directly behind it put pressure on it.

Be prepared to wait with B.A.M.F. --- I waited just over a month for my CB mount, and then over 2 weeks with the BPV bracket. I don't know if I'm the only one that experienced this type of waiting.

On the plus side he is VERY fast when it comes to communicating

I have the same lift kit on my truck (installed it about 3 weeks ago). As for the BPV bracket, I was able to use some washers so that it wouldn't lay flat against the existing bolts. Seems to be holding up fine for now...

After installing the diff drop kit, were you able to get the stock skid plates on without any modifications? I had to enlarge the rear holes in the rear skid so that it would line up correctly.

 

1999 Taco here. I also had to enlarge/cut new locations for the rear skid bolts. IIRC it seemed to shift over to the driver side slightly for some reason. Not a huge deal, took me all of 10 minutes to get the holes marked, cut and bolted back on.

 

I'll try the washer idea in the meantime, but will most likely buy one of those BAMF ones that everyone seems to be giving good ratings about. I was just dissapointed on how it bent so easily when bolting it in.

All I did to make the stock skid plate bolt up was use the 2 supplied spacers (assuming you bought the drop kit from Toytec?) in 2 of the front (radiator support) bolt holes. I place the spacers between the skid and the frame/support and that was enough to make the rear 2 bolts line up perfectly- no cutting or expanding the holes. It didn't allow the middle set of bolts to go in as I'll need longer ones now, but I didn't use the 2 middle bolts for the skid anyways so it doesn't bother me.

I suppose you can stack washers in the meantime if you didn't get those skid spacers, but that's up to you.

 

How long does it take for the fronts to settle in? With only recently installing the lift (4 days ago), the front seems slightly higher. I can understand that the front is probably beefier, given new coils and struts, versus new shocks and old leafs w/aal in the rear.
Also, the driver rear seems to be about 1/2" or slightly more lower than the passenger rear. Again, probably due to 10 year old leaf packs (pre and post lift measurements show the left rear being slightly lower).

 

Mine have been on for about 2-2.5 weeks and it's only settled about 0.25 of an inch. They are REALLY stiff coils so it may take a little longer. Also doesn't the driver side side just a tad lower on factory suspension anyway?

 

Ah ok, well at least I know I won't be riding around with this look for too long then. My pre-lift measurements do show a 1/2" difference bw driver and passenger side, but figured with the original leafs and fue tank being on the left side, it was bound to sag over time.

The only reason I physically noticed it was by looking at the rear shocks and noticing the driver side being more compressed than the passenger side. From there, I remeasured and started noticing the difference. No biggie, just curious.

As for the driver side coming lower from the factory, I'm not sure to be honest. I know, from working at Toyota dealerships, that the factory alignment specs (mainly caster) were slightly adjuster to allow for road crown, but not sure about an actual lean.

 

Yea its called Taco lean. You can get a 1/4'' spacer to level it out. Never bothered me though. But i replaced leafs at the same time and mine are side specific to fight that.

But you will not see really any change in height if you don't put a bumper or something heavy up front.

You just installed a taller coil then stock and 100lbs high spring rate.

 

Ya I keep reading about taco lean and the spacer to compensate, just didn't know how much a spacer in the front would help the rear. My front measurements are actually pretty dead on, it's just the rear. But like you, I'll probably just let it go till I can afford new leaf packs.

You think a 1" lift shackle in the rear might help level things out?

Shit man, I love your truck! I love those 96/97 front ends and was actually considering swapping it onto my double cab, just don't know if it'd look flush or not.
