My ABS brake on my 1998 tacoma stays on and the abs brakes do not work. I took it to the dealer and the said that all the wheel sensors are good but ABS computer is bad and they could not do anything until it is replaced. I purchased two used computers and they still come up with the same error codes. I have seen many threads with the same problem. Does any one have or know where I can get the diagram and designation of the pins on the connector to the ABS ECU actuator. I want to trace the cables to see if any cables are broken.

I hate ABS, at least where i live, doesn't snow or ice over roads locally I think ABS has done more TO cause accidents than it ever prevented, my ABS light is on as well & my brakes have never worked better, when the light goes off & the next time i use brakes they go mushy & rapidlly pulsate , when the light comes on brakes act like brakes again I know theres an issue but thinking about just removing all together...

My ABS light came on a few years ago. When I heard it was $1000 for a new actuator I decided I didn't really need ABS.

In the 8 or so years before the ABS went out, it never kicked in unless I purposely pounded the pedal to make it kick in.

So IMHO I don't need it. I've driven in enough situations enough times to where I have an excellent feel for when a wheel will lock up.

Code 32- LF speed sensor problem
Code 34- LR speed sensor problem
    Code 44- deceleration sensor fault
Code 51- ABS pump motor not operating on initial start-up.

Sounds like some issues that will take a bit of work to diagnose. What have you tested so far before I start to offer up help here.

I have the same problem on my '99. ABS would kick in on hard stops and I'd nearly run into something, good thing I'm quick with the e-brake. Went to Titus Will Toyota in Tacoma for a fix and after them keeping it a couple of weeks, numerous excuses, them wasting an entire tank of my gas and installing $700.00 in parts I apparently didn't need I was back to where I began with the same problem. They were at a loss as to why it was still failing and suggested I let them keep it a while longer and they will replace things until it works again, all at my expense... I walked out of there and just unplugged the ABS unit under the hood. It's been this way for 3 years now and as long as I am careful the brakes work fine. Of course my ABS light has been on this entire time and no amount of wishing has got it to burn out, yet....

Been a long conversation in many threads about ABS systems. Remember that the ABS system is NOT designed to make you stop faster. It is designed to give you vehicle control when in a low traction situation. Lots of things can also cause unexpected ABS activation. The first few that come to mind are tire size and condition, suspension mods, and dirty sensors/reluctors.

I took it to the Titus Will and they said the sensors were ok. They said the ABS ECU was bad and they could not go any further until it was replaced. I order a used pump and ECU and I receive two so I have replaced both. I also replaced the ABS relay. My first check is to make sure that no wires are broken from the sensor to the ECU. I appricate the pin information but do you also have the Pinout layout. Not sure the numbering on the female end.

As I recall I just posted the ABS ECU pinout. What exactly are you looking for?

I bought my truck a couple months ago with the ABS light on. The guy who sold it to me said all it needed was the main 40 or 60 amp fuse (I forget which it is) in the main engine compartment fuse box which was missing. It is the kind of fuse that bolts on under the fuse box. and they aren't cheap! My fear is if I buy one to replace the missing one, there is some other unseen problem , and the new, expensive, fuse will blow right away. What should I do? How should I test so I know the new fuse won't blow right away.

OK, so you need the connector diagram. I will see what I can do.
