I have 33's now, but that picture was after the lift, but before the 33's.....they were the 265/70/16 stock size tires (31's)

Do you have a link with more pics of your truck with 33's? Also, do you just have a basic 3" suspension lift. I'm new to everything so i'm curious.

I'm gonna jump on this thread. Do your 33s clear ok with the 3" lift? I'm seeing that 32s are the tallest recommended tire for that. I'm running 31s now, but wanting to go to 33s.

I had an extreme truck toyz 3" on my 97. more of a show than go kit but definately put 3" under it. i ran 325x65r15 (31x12.50+)bfg mts on a 15x10 wheel with some minor bumper rubbing (just noisy at full lock, didn't hurt anything)

How ya been thenrie? I've been offline for a few days. Anyway, I had some minor fender well rubbing at full lock. I was able to take care of it with the pinch weld mod. http://www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?article=9

It's rare, but once in a while I get some rubbing when I'm wheelin, but I havn't figured out where exactly. I only hear it for a second and the tires aren't getting chewed up, so for now I assume it's just some contact with inner fender plastic. Keep in mind, however, I am running aftermarket wheels with less backspacing than stock.

    2 1/2" Lift, 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrain
I have 33s on my 2.7 Taco. Its a 5 speed, so it moves them just fine and crawls well offroad. They are mounted on the factory 16" rims w/4.5" backspace. The BFG M/T lugs that have T/A writen i=on them will sometimes rub the upper control arm when the suspension is fully extended. At full turn the tires also rub the frame, but I rairly turn that sharp. Under normal driving conditions there is no rubbing. A set of after market wheels with a tiny bit of offset would solve my rubbing issue. Be careful not to have to much offset because then the tires will rub the cabs pinch weld. There is a pinch weld mod for that problem if you have it. Here is pics with 2 1/2" lift w 31" tires and another pic w/33" tires.

Hey Toy4life! I've been too busy with life to mess with my Taco lately. Thanks for your response and the link. I may just go with that 3" lift. Cheaper is good. What backspacing do your rims have? I'm hoping I can stick with my stock rims. As a matter of fact, I will probably go with metric tires or see if I can find a 33X10.50 with a reasonable all-terrain tread. Since most of my travel will be on-road for the next couple years, I'd rather not carry the extra spinning weight of 33X12.50s.

My wheels have 4" of backspacing. I didn't want 12.5" wide tires, but finding 33/10.5's doesn't leave you with many choices. BFG AT, BFG MT, Super Swampers were the only ones I could find in that size. You could run 285/75/16 on stock wheels, but may need spacers. 265/75/16's might be the better choice. They're 32" tires that still look pretty good with the lift, they'll be cheaper, and virtually any tire out there comes in this size. Honestly, when the time comes to replace my tires, I think I'm gonna get 32" instead of 33". Just some food for thought.

My truck is the black one on the right. I have a 2 1/2 inch lift with 33's with aftermarket wheels that have an inch more offset. When I first put the tires on it was rubbing at the back of the wheel well. I trimed a small piece of the wheel well out and it doesnt rub anymore.

Thanks. That helps with the decision. 33s and a 3" lift it is.

hey 01Taco, just trying to help you a little if you want it. My 2000 ext.cab 4x4 Trd manual tacoma has 33x12.50-15 maxxis buckshot mudders on it. I have a Fabtech 3" adjustable coilover system in the front and 2" add-a-leafs in the rear. I also have a 3" Fabtech body lift as well. This lift is great!!! I also bought 15x10 American Racing type-23's wheels. I bought all of this from National Tire & Wheel for about 1800 bucks. But you can knock off 440 bucks of that price if you stay with your stock wheels. By the way, I love this truck. I hunt with it nonstop during hunting season hard. Hasn't let me down and handles high speed logging roads like a dream and is great in ruts and harsh terrain. Just my 2 cents though. This same lift will bolt right to your truck if you plan on getting it.

2.5" coil spacers in the front and 2.5" add-a-leafs for the rear. its made by Daystar and at a really good price. I got it for $170 on 4wheelparts.com. I keep my front struts stock but I had to replace the rear because they were short. I put longer shocks by Fabtech for about $90. that was separate to the lift kit.
