STOLEN TRUNK DOOR

i woke up this morning to go to work and found someone had stolen my trunk door in the middle of the night. what a great way to start my birthday month right. is anyone selling their's? or know anyone selling it? perferably in the soCal area...

 

wow what db's. id suggest moving, then look on CR for your tailgate also lock it, there are numerous threads and endless posts on this...

Like it was said, check craigslist. One option is the hose clamp addition or another is to replace the handle with a pop n lock handle.

Ironically,I just logged onto the site to get the size of the pipe clamps and washers to deter theives.

When I first read the thread I thought that someone stole one of your doors. Now that I actually seen the pictures it's the tailgate that someone stole. Yeah! It's good to put some security on it.

 

That really sucks, it will be on Craigslist soon. Start surfing the ads and find it. If you can't prove its yours, the good news is they sell them relatively cheap compared to buying a new one.

Trunks must only be on sport models? Never seen a taco with a trunk.

 

Doesn't all the parts of the truck have serial numbers that match each other?

 

You'd think in this day in age that everything would be stamped or etched into the parts, not stickers.

When you get your replacement tailgate, a hose clamp and a little JB weld and it will not happen again.

 

I understand that people will steal things. My question is, why are so many stolen? Honestly, iis someone out there making coffee tables with these things? Last I checked most tacomas that are sold come with the tail gates.

 

i just did. i'm already in a bad mood since i'm guessing the same ass shits stole my spare tire a couple months back. you need to learn some manners to a lady.

OP, that sucks. Hope you can get one cheap. But yeah hose clamp mod is the very least you should do.

 

Hopefully, if they are stupid enough to steal and sell a tailgate on craigslist, they will not be smart enough to remove the serial number sticker. One can only hope.

I agree with everyone else though, I hear about a lot of tailgate theft and wonder, is there really THAT much of a demand? Glad I live in a safe area
