What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Nice! I hear those things put out quite the rumble as well! Especially for an 8" sub... they sound like a 15"!!!

 

For the people that want more than 25 feet of range, I did a 2 way alarm with remote start and can see what my truck is up to on an LCD screen that vibrates when I lock/unlock, I can start it from a quarter mile away, I can see how warm the inside of my truck is, and I can scare all the neighbors whenever I want. Plus a bunch of other features I didn't need.

 

just the wrong 10'' is all..

best sounding subs money can buy are 8'' subs.

 

I've got a pioneer 10 back there now and yeah it does the 8 will take up just as much room cause it'll be a ported box

Eh, isn't that more opinion? I like a sealed 10" better personally.

 

in terms of SQ and response..no. A 8'' deliverers and cleaner tighter signal response.

Im a 10'' fan though myself..why i have 2.

 

I have an 8 inch with a vented box that sounds really good. I have it lying flat on the seat but don't think it would take up much room if I tilted it up if I had a passenger back there or other stuff.

either way a majority of all people that add a sub tune it wrong and set the gain staging wrong..so..doesn't matter to a lot of people. They just want thump.

 

Ya i need that extra seat back there for passengers... if i ever find a tool box I might put one in the extra storage cubby hole

 

This is true haha Although I'd like to think I'm not one of those people. I tend to tune it to a suitable range for all music, then when I want just insane bass I just use the gain knob that destroys the tuning settings...

Yours is also 5 years newer when they did that. I like the white look...looks clean and matches my white paint.

I went with a 4" since that seems to be the average of what people use. I've read others going with a 6" too. I figured I could go with 4" and if it didn't work or screwed something up...I could just screw the cover back on and no biggie. I pulled the EFI fuse for 30 minutes after I did the mod. Don't know if it really helped anything or not to do the mod in the first place, but I had $15 and a couple hours to burn one Saturday, so why not?

 

Hey when installing new leaf springs, once you bolt in the forward part of the leaf and are trying to get the pin through the leaf/shackle, can you move the shackle to make it so the leaf's hole matches up?

I figured that would be A okay, but just double checking since this is my first time replacing em..

 

Do you lights dim at all? Mine don't and I thought I saw somewhere the superbrightleds dim.

 

No LED lights don't dim, it's just on/off function at that point with the dimmer knob

 

yes. Just don't over tighten the shackles. They need to move. think torque spec is like 67 ft/lbs or something like that..

Get the rear shackles and leafs all loosely lined up then drop the truck back onto its wheels to do the final torquing.

 

Not today but a couple days ago on a trail ...torpedoed both CV's (both were pretty tired/noisy) & disregard comment at end of vid...

Front eye bolt Torque = 116 ft lb
Rear Shackle Bolts Torque = 67 ft lb

 

Ubolt torque: 37ft.lbs.
