Sooo I noticed today that when I reversed my truck only in reverse it makes a squeaky noise. Anyone know what can cause this and how to fix it. Thanks.

2006 tacoma 2x4 4 cylinder single cab with 90k. All stock.

Lift truck, put in neutral and check. U-joints. Being 2wd I think you never greased them.

If they squeak, after running for 90K, its way too late to grease them. Check to make sure thats your problem and replace all of them. Grease ujoints every 5000 miles.

You need a grease gun and you put the hose end of the grease gun on the grease zerk on the u-joint and pull the trigger. You will have to watch the seals on the u-joints to make sure you don't put too much in

In the picture it appears to be inside the yoke of the driveshaft, as in the zerk comes off the middle of the u-joint and is angled outward, also it should be two, one on the front (near transmission) and on rear (near the axle)

Could be your power steering belt if its a high pitched squeak. Spray some wd40 on your belt and if it stops then tighten the belt.

Your going to want to fix them ASAP. Running bad U-joints can cause big problems, Ive seen warped shafts from ujoints giving out at high RPMS.

They also become more and more of a bitch to replace once they seize and start melting to eachother.

If it was the belt it would be making the sound at start up no matter if hes in drive or reverse or even park.

Probably at full lock because the power steering was being strained causing the belt to require more work.
