Lol I would hardly consider neglecting to put a 4x4 badge on the tailgate from factory a failure. If the motor was known to implode or interior to spontaneously combust, then we have a failure.

How so? You still bought the truck didn't you? It still works doesn't it? Other motorists don't care that you have 4wd. I'm sure when you get hired by Toyotas design team they will be more than willing to entertain your concerns about proper 4wd emblem and decal placement in regards to letting other people on the road know you spent more money for 4wd.

I'm gonna head over to tr Raptor forums and see if any of those owners feel Ford dropped the ball for not putting any 4wd stickers on the truck. Wouldn't want others to think they spent all that money for a fancy truck and didn't get 4wd.

Like I said I have no issue with yor personal taste and preference for stickers and decals but saying Toyota screwed up for keeping the 4x4 in a location it's always been rather than slapping 4x4 stickers on the bed is ludicrous.

Beavis - not sure which side of the fence you're on but yep it is serious!

J & J - Your opinions & quite frankly I don't give a rats behind! The MUD Flaps suck as a spot to display the best feature a truck has to offer. Too bad you folks take it so personal.

    Lol Beavis sarcasm.

And I do not take anything personal, as I just figured I'd take the liberty of sending out my opinion, as its only fair if you put out yours.:D

Good info. I took my flaps off (liked how the 4x4 looked, but needed them off) and am wanting to put 4x4 on the truck again somewhere. Was also perusing "supercharged" badges, just because. :D

Looks like bad idea, and I'd say you are all wet on this.

No one seems to be agreeing with you that this is important at all, certainly not a big mistake.

Funny you ask for opinion and then say you don't give a rat's behind about others opinions? You appear to be taking it personal, we are just humored.

"Best feature a truck has to offer", wow I'm insulted since I don't have 4x4, and don't need it.

Love the idea but careful; seems to be the wrong thing to do around these parts. Especially with the non 4X4 crowd. :gossip:

I agree with you on the 1st gen mudflaps. I got them on my truck.

How would anyone see a 4x4 behind those gas cans and spare? Clearly Toyota thought the mudflap location through. :stirthepot:

Although I do like the Tundra 4x4 logo, I'd probably replace the V6 badge with it and remove the Toyota badge from the left side of the tailgate because of the difference in badge sizes, leaving "Tacoma" on the left and "4x4" on the right.

Of course, I'd also plasti-dip them for that super clean look....

And yes, too many people on this thread take themselves way too seriously. This isn't a DCLB vs DCSB thread so get over yourselves!:crapstorm:

Wow, guys, not what I expected when I checked back in on this thread..

I came in with the intent to help out and share ideas on badging. Of course everyone's tastes and opinions are going to differ. Everyone in here is on the verge of flame war skirmishes...over badging now?

I didn't pack my flame suit for this excursion, so I'm just going to agree that we all drive a variation of the best midsize pickup on the market, and everyone has customized theirs to make it their own. I'm content with that thinking. Not interested in having a debate over this, just not THAT important.

    LoneCynic out!

Guilty as charged. Nice to know there are still sensible folks among us. Check out Greg's reply #186. Puts things into prospective. :)

You got it all wrong, OP doesn't want to customize anything, hear ideas on changing badging, make his truck his own, change one single thing, etc.

Just complaining that Toyota screwed it up, and finding that others don't see the problem, after asking for opinions.

If the second gen mud flaps actually 'flapped' (made of rubber) like the first gen ones did, then the '4WD' there would be fine. The second gen 'flaps' are hard plastic and when they make contact with the ground (dropping in a rut) or a boulder, (off roading on rocks), they SNAP OFF!

I reattached the plastic 'flaps' several times on my 2005 (never had to my my 2001)... mostly just so people could see it was a 4WD (or 4x4, as the new flaps say). When I got my 2010, my smart four wheeling wife said I should just remove them and save the hassle... which I did a couple months after getting the new truck.

So, if they returned to the excellent rubber 4WD flaps of the 2004 or earlier Tacomas, the need for a tailgate badge would be gone.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll remove mine when I'm out in the sticks. Or in this case the rocks. :)
