Hello, I bought the remote off of ebay that you showed and recommended; thanks.. You include a good picture, but I can't figure out where that is; the ecu. On the web, I see where some say on top of the glove compartment. Some say by fusebox. Where is the pic that you've taken? THanks a lot.

it looks like the picture was taken in the drivers side footwell, you gotta pull some of the trim pieces out to access it.

I think I screwed up. There is no alarm system on this Tacoma, so I'm assuming that I won't be able to program the remote; newbie mistake. I'll just get a refund.

Thanks man much appreciated I am a motocross'er so the decals fit my needs. I like them and the 1st gen tundras have them up higher on the bed so I kinda followed haha. the TW member on here "adub4real" his name is adam he runs a vinyl shop on the side and makes custom bedsides that are great quality. He is super easy to work with and get them done pretty damn quick. heres his thread : http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/buy-sell-trade/282066-custom-vinyl-decals.html hope that helps :) btw your bedsides came out great as well, super clean!

Doesnt help you much since you have a 2000, but anybody with a 02-04 with keyless entry is already pre wired for an alarm, here is the link to the mod. You can buy the glass break sensor from toyota but dont really need it.

Edit: Looks like that link doesnt work, none of them from ttora do. Ill see if i can find another one.

Every link I ever searched for had dead pics. I finally poked my head under and saw exactly what all the threads talked about. There's a single wire yellow with a black stripe I believe. It has a single connector that is plugged in to the rest of the harness just unplug it and your done.

Its on the left side, left of the steering column. Look up and it will be with the wiring harness.

I can take a pic if needed.

Gives you an idea. This is looking in the corner, you can see the footrest at the bottom to help get your bearings.

The single wire will be plugged into the harness. Just unplug and this will enable your keyless entry to be an actual alarm. As previously mentioned you can add the led so you have a visual theft deterrent and you can also add the shock sensor.

To test it roll your window down, close your door and arm the truck. Wait about 30 seconds and reach in and pull up on the lock to unlock it. You should get "alarmed" :D

This is where it was located on my 03 and another 03 I did. Other threads have mentioned other locations in different years. So if you don't see yours here keep looking around. I also did NOT need to pull the lower dash piece off. It took me longer to type this reply then do the mod Haha. Good luck!!

The only way to access that area of the body is by removing the large trim panel, and the speaker. It is a tight area to work in, but I have worked on some cab damage in that area before.

P0420 is a longevity code. Are you sure the code itself is setting on startup, or just not showing up active on your gauge until start up? I ask because in order for P0420 to set it requires that the engine be running, and there is an allowable time for the O2 sensors and catalytic converter to warm up before it even runs the TEST for that code.

They have some really good parts. I have installed a lot of their stuff on some customer trucks at the shop.
