Yes, we can do that. We can have them powder coated just about any color that you'd like actually. :)

Great question! I actually don't have any photos of the 17" Konig Countersteer Type X on a single cab Tacoma. I think it'd look really good though. We've had single cab Tacoma customers with the 18x9" FN BFDs and the 16x8" Konig Countersteer Offroads, and those wheels look really good on single cabs.

In my opinion the single cab Tacoma looks more aggressive than the access cab or double cab, and it looks really, really good with a nice set of wheels.

The Konig Countersteer Type X wheels should work well with just about any 6" lift that's out there. The 17" wheel diameter and 4.1" backspacing will give you the clearance needed for all of the 6" lifts on the market (including Fabtech). You won't have any rubbing on any suspension components.

Matte black is currently sold out! I will have more in stock by approximately mid-November (about 30-45 days from now).

Anthracite light gunmetal and matte bronze are in stock and ready for immediate shipment. We can also have a set of Countersteer Type X wheels professionally powder coated matte black (or any other color) for anyone who cannot wait for the next shipment.

Please PM me or call (951)735-1100 for more information or to add your name to my waiting list.

in the process of finishing my 3 inch lift on my '12 DC TRD sport. once i do im set on putting the 17x8 type x in bronze on. going to be looking to run cooper discover stt m/t 295/70r17 with it. im sure ill at least have to do some cutting. but with the 4.1 backspacing im curious what my fitment for these tires might look like, any problems or cutting?
im lifting with 5100's and i have no problem setting it up a notch or so to sit my truck a little bulldog. ill also be using TC UCA's which im sure will help also. any thoughts or pics of anything close to this set up is much appreciated.

Sounds like a pretty good setup to me.

The main problem you are going to run into has less to do with the specs of the wheels and more to do with the diameter of the tires. With any tires 33" overall diameter or taller on a 2nd Gen Tacoma you will have rubbing on the body mount aka cab mount aka frame. You'll need to do the cab-mount chop modification.

With a 3" lift and Total Chaos upper control arms you'll otherwise have pretty good clearance. You will need to trim some of the fender liner and over fender, remove the front mud flaps (possibly you can trim and re-install them, but I would leave them off), and remove the small flap on the bottom side of the fender liner (held on by two 10mm bolts).

The 4.1" back spacing of the 17x8" Konig Countersteer Type X will give you excellent control arm clearance, so even with the taller, wider 295/70R17 tires you won't have any rubbing your suspension.

Overall, with a cab mount chop, plastic fender liner / over fender trimming, Bilstein 5100s set to the top perch (aftermarket springs recommended if you set the 5100s to the top perch), and Total Chaos upper control arms you should be good to go with 17x8" Konig Countersteer Type Xs and 295/70R17 tires.

This information is coming from personal, hands on installation experience with dozens of Tacomas. :)

thanks, sounds great. ive been wanting to stuff some beefy tires on a tacoma since i bought my first taco in '07 which was 2wd so i ended up just leveling it and putting 32 m/t's on it just to be somewhat practical. mud flaps are already off my truck, did that the day i brought it home from the dealership. just like the look of the truck without them.
when you mention the small mud flap, are you talking about the small approx. 5x4 ones underside the front of the front wheel wells? thank you for all the great info. if it clears the suspension fine. unless any areas on the fenders are gonna rub real bad in normal road driving, i can hold off hitting the trails for a few days after. might make a good weekend project for me and the pops to do some cutting and testing where its rubbing.

    You're welcome!

Yes, on the 2012 there are rectangular flaps on the underside of the front wheel well in the area where the bumper meets (directly in front of the center of the tire). On your 2007 there would have been a "nub" that sticks down, but on 2012+ models it is just a flap held on by two 10mm bolts. Simply remove this flap for added clearance.

Suspension clearance (spring perch and upper control arm) will be just fine due to the 4.1" back spacing.

Fender trimming is extremely quick and easy with a sharp knife. If you can put the front end under a little bit of load, have someone sit inside and crank the wheel until it rubs. Note the area that rubs, then trim and remove that area. It will be a small part of the plastic over fender. You won't even notice it once it's been removed.

The cab mount chop is a little more labor intensive, but if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself a good fabrication shop should be able to do it for $200 or less (total). This is another modification that you won't be able to see once it's been done either. You can order a CNC cut plate for the cab mount chop here:

    UPDATE 10/10/2013:

Good news! I just received word from Konig that the 17x8" Countersteer Type X in matte black will back in stock at the end of next week / beginning of the following week. This is about 3 weeks sooner than expected.

I will ship all pre-orders immediately, and I'll contact everyone who is on the interest list as well as soon as the wheels arrive. :)
