excellent engine option is the EROD ls3 right about 8 grand, complete with harness, cat and ecm. 430 horse. reliable and smog compliant.

i believe there is a 5.3 e rod version with 320 horse.

so im putting the 50t leaf pack on, engage 13 inch shackles, saw 2.5 x16 inch shocks, yada yada yada. my fabricator said to do it right you need to mount the shocks in front of the axle, therefor we need to move the gas stank from its stock location. ..
never seen anyone have to do that before..
input??

 

Mount them outside the frame

 

can't do that unless he has a tundra axle..in which case..do that.

otherwise..just go straight up and down..

 

I have a stock axle, and I cant just go straight up and down. its a 16 inch shock and ill be getting at least 18. it has to be angled

 

umm...jason has 16s and is strapped at 18'' travel i believe..

 

Why can't you mount off the rear of the axle? Most first gens run the shocks off the rear.

that's exactly what I thought... it would cycle the same off the rear.

yeah but they aren't straight up and down. you cant go straight up and down with a 16 inch travel shock and get 18inches of travel.

 

now the question, are you sure you chose the right fabricator? lol

 

yeah im sure.. he races at least and a lot of locals go through him, several off here

Why so set on 18" of travel?

 

Cause thats what everyone else gets with leafs and 16" shocks

I want to get the most out of my set up. if I can get 18 just by angling the shocks why would I go for 16? ya know?

 

You can still angle a bit forward when mounting to the rear of the axle. You just cant have the mounts low on the axle. Just run longer mounts so the shock body clears the axle. You don't want to run too much of an angle anyway.

 

TC shock mounts are made to go off the rear, or at least I have never seen anyone mount them off the front. Mine are mounted of the back of the axle. You gonna make it to the dunes CODY

 

Front is ideal because it helps control axle wrap, but the rear is the next best option, just don't mount them on top
