    I did pretty well for my Labor Day weekend camping. but that was only 3 days of camping. Only thing I realized from that is that I need a bigger ice chest haha or an ARB fridge...

    The 3 most important things to me while camping are:

    Food, Shelter, and Water

    I always pack enough food for more days than i expect. And lots of really good food. Stuff that will last long and make you full.
    Having a comfortable place to sleep, stay warm and dry is one of the most important things you can improve. For example, an RTT may be the best purchase for that. Or a really nice canopy where you can keep everything dry and out of the elements. Small things like a comfortable foamy to sleep on, warm sleeping bag and blankets, rain jackets and tarps, and maybe a heater to help on those really cold nights.

    Then theres things you can do to make your drive more enjoyable like: Good tires, locker, tools and spare parts, armor, navigation, radios, spare tire carrier, OBA or C02,.... ect

    The best way to figure out what you REALLY need is to go out and survive out of your truck for a couple days

    Still want an RTT. Slept in the bed of my truck on a 2" thick foam mattress for 3 nights, don't want to do that again haha

    A most of he stuff mentioned for camping are comfort items. I go out every few months for a couple days and live off what I can fit in my pack. It's a good skill to have because you just never know. Once you live out of a pack for days you instantly know what you would have liked to have to be comfortable haha.

    Who knew a question about a coffee maker could elicit such responses.. Don't want to clutter up this thread too much..

    I'm stoked - especially since I've abstained from ANY coffee for 3 months while I've been fishing!

    Side note - I get home from Kodiak Oct. 14th... Definitely want to get out with the truck/RTT - have 3 1/2 months off. Think any of these areas will still be passable that time of year? Want to head out to Bozeman for a few days as well; anyone have any suggestions? Looking for a little more than snowed-over logging roads..

    Snow is already falling so a lot of it will be snowed in probably. High ways and interstates stay plowed.

    Jake, late Oct is getting into the 'snow' season up at the higher elevations we did. Not sure when closures start occurring but you might want to post that question in the MT BS thread. I know you can get a solid answer from them.
