What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I love it there. I can still see everything, and I don't have to divert my eyes to an unnatural location.

 

X2, meaning you'll need two sets of gears/bearings/install kits if your truck is 4WD.

 

about 900 in parts...or 1200-1400 with labor give or take if you cant set up gears yourself.

 

Had some time today so I wired my rear view mirror

Man ur gonna love those LF's. You go with the HID version? I only have the 170's and holy crap they are bright. It's impossible to out run them....in these trucks anyway.

 

I know, I had a handheld LF 240 spotlight.. I knew I needed those spotlights for my truck! I didn't get the HID versions, they were too 'spensive. I might toy with the idea of doing doing THIS conversion. The 240s are SO bright

 

There's a place here in Portland that advertises speedo cable ratio fixes. I believe they splice in a little box that makes the correction. I have yet to pull the trigger since I'm only ~3mph off with my 275's.

 

I'll have to look into that, although this ultra gauge group buy seems to be a pretty easy fix

 

Hmm. Yeah that'd be another thing if I eventually re-gear. I still don't get how the ultra gauge gathers more accurate information on the exact speed you are traveling, or the engine temp & RPMs

 

Finished installing my sliders and put a coat bedliner....

 

It goes by the information you put in to it haha so if you dont use correct mile markers then it can be off

 

Hmm. Well I'm sure there are instructions that come with it. If anything I could just re-sell it for $50. I'm sure it would go pretty quick at that price

I thought it does, just some tacomas don't have the capability.

I'ts pretty simple to calibrate, directions are on their website. Basically you just set it by driving a calculated distance on a straight road.

 

I've always wondered why they don't just provide it to us in the "raw" form in the first place.

I thought it had one, never checked. I got mine a while ago and still haven't set it up. The extra $50 or so wouldn't be worth it for me anyway.

True.

 

It's extremely tedious. You have to get it torqued and shimmed perfect for it to last. You also have to have a special tool to measure backlash. I would probably take them to a shop just for the peace of mind of not having to worry about if I got it right or not.
