Is this an accurate description of why reverse 4 link is not so hot?

    Stolen from a different site...

"First off, there is absolutely nothing wrong (structurally) with a reverse 4 link. You can install a reverse 4 link just as horribly as a forward 4 link. Your vehicle will not fall apart... but don't hit your brakes to hard, because the faster you try to stop, the faster your rear wheels will lose traction.

The major issue with a reverse 4 link is that it is backwards. Not only does it look backwards, but it is connecting the axle to the truck backwards. The axle is now being pushed by the truck instead of pulled. When you mash the gas pedal, the rear of the vehicle will lift up - similar characteristic of braking in a normal car. When you hit the brakes, the rear of the vehicle will sag - similar to mashing the gas pedal in a normal car. Why is this? Because reversing the rear suspension reverses all of the suspension characteristics of a vehicle."

Air shocks on 4 link? Nope... You have to make the links so long with reverse 4 link to keep the pinion change in check, and the roll center is fucked. I guess the important question is why do you want it?

It's just a way to get linked and keep the stock gas tank. But it's probably the worst way to achieve that.

since the reverse 4 link thing went over like a lead balloon, how about a rear cantilever set up that works well. anyone ??
Back many years ago i had a friend that had a old retired rode hard put away wet class 8 truck that had a 1/4 elliptical setup in the rear. It would break the main leafs on occasion under hard prerunning, but it worked really well for a old school truck. I can imagine it is a lot of work to dial a rear setup like that in.
Anyone remember the old Brian Kedella designed trophy truck suspension, all dimple plate and cantilever stuff, looked like NASA stuff.
    carry on.

Cantilever doesn't solve the upper link and gas tank problem. Cantilever just changes the shock location and direction.
The 1/4" elliptical thing has been gone for a long time it was just a way around the no coil over rule back in the day, coil overs work way better.

That's the old Baldwin truck, no coil-overs all torsion bars. No reason to built that anymore

    Viva Juan Carlos

That is the old pin class 8 truck with a makeover and a trophy truck number. I think they run it in CODE races and Juan Carlos's kid is driving it now days.

I get it, just that with the cant system you can keep the bed of the truck free and clear.
Have not seen a 1/4 elliptical truck in a some time.

I love the idea of cantilever. Clean and lots of travel with no room taken up in the bed.

just a bitch to tune i guess.

Looks like the rear needs stepped up a bit..but I'm NO expert..I'm just guessing. Especially on rebound perhaps??

Wait to see what others think.
