It's a cheapo off Amazon, it seems to be very well made though, I am happy with it for sure!

Excellent information. I feel I'll get my moneys worth out since I will probably rarely use the winch, but like having it (especially synthetic line) so I'm thinking the line will last a good long while. What factors dictate how long a line will last?-- Weather, usage, amount of weight being pulled, etc?

I eventually want to go with AmSteel... how long do you believe this WARN line will last for you? I will most likely go with the WARN m800-s.

Keeping a synthetic line clean is a big one, dirt and debris can work its way in between the fibers and wear the line out. It also really depends now much you use it and what you are pulling, but it should last nearly as Long as a steel line. The biggest reason I got it, I like nice things :) and the synthetic is just Way more appealing than a steel cable.

Ah gotcha, so mud isn't the best to run through I take it then? Dirt/mud wearing out the synthetic line makes sense... I just HATE the steel splinters when you're guiding it back into the reel & the extra weight it carries (even though it's not that much), still

    It only weights about 10lbs

Driving through mud is fine, when laying the line out you want to avoid getting it covered in crap. There was a little diagram that came with the winch that clearly lays out how to care for the line. I'll try and snap a pic if I can find it, you may be able to find the manual online too

    I found it online HERE

Seems pretty straight forward when it comes to care & maintenance. Just look at it for cuts, melting, etc. Extend it every once in a while and spray it with the hose & let it dry.

Yup, man I guess I missed the replace every 12 months part! I'm assuming it may last longer if its not used very often like mine.

No clue. Missed that part in my research, I imagine though that is more geared towards the daily use/working/tow driver type of use Rather than recreational every other weekend use

That's why I'm staying 1st gen! Almost bought one but after a test drive they are no where near as good to drive as a 1st gen.

Did you figure out a winch yet??

What's bad about them to drive? Never drove one, nor will I for a while until I have a buddy who has one (will probably happen when I move down to Cali for the Marines though)-- I know people will be eye fckin my black beauty in the parking lot ;)

Yeah when I decide to buy one it'll be the WARN m8000, I'll sell the steel line (for whatever pennies I can get for it- I don't figure it's worth much) & I'm buying AmSteel synthetic line (100' of it) through a member on here who has one heck of a deal going on. 100 feet of 5/8 inch for $138 + $12 shipping.

If you're interested (maybe get some for later since it's about $100 cheaper :notsure:) then PM 'DDD' or check out this link: CLICK HERE
