nice taco! Where did you get a toolbox that would fit with the wheel wells? Did you have to custom build it?

Hello, Hope you still visit the forum. I found your build of your prerunner and was wanting to ask some questions about the tacoma you had. I have a 2004 DBL cab prerunner just like yours and would really like to make mine like yours. Since doing the solid axle swap is really beyond my abilities & finding a 1st gen 4x4 is getting more difficult, I would like to do the same mods you have done. Would you recommend the OME set up or the 5100 bilsteins? I would like to go with LT285 Wrangler MT's. Don't know how much lift, after market wheel back spacing or spacing etc. Any info that you could write to me would be greatly appreaciated. I live out in west Texas and plan on riding the trails in Big Bend Nat'l Park. Thanks again, fraidycat

I would recommend the OME coil/shock combo. Everyone loves that. To run 285's on stock wheels, you will most likely need to get some spacers. Ideally, you would want wheels with a different backspacing.

Thank you! I have read that the OME setup gives a nice ride, just wasn't sure. I had a Jeep w/35" tires, never felt stable at hiway speed. By the way, really like your Taco!
