Silicone spray works great for a squeeking clutch linkage.

You can hit a tree, hit a deer, and drive it into a ditch...have it towed out and towed home and otherwise...fix it ALL yourself and NEVER report it to your insurance company.... and guess what? It won't show up on the carfax report.

You can't blame the carfax report for being inaccurate. Blame the owners whom 'hide' the reality because they don't want their insurance premiums to go up..... or for whatever reason.....

My bolt on the drivers side came out 3 weeks after I bought the truck. Went to put seat belt on and the belt kept coming out, loose as all hell, I was like WTF! I was off that day so with a pair of long nosed vise grips I put the bolt back in and tightened it down. Still tight to this day. If I ever get the letter I may take it in but who knows. "If" it comes out again I'll put Loctite on it, and go from there.

For you guys who have checked out the bolt and either fixed it yourself with locktite or had the dealership check into it, did it solve any rattling noise?

I have a 2012 and man that rattling in my ear is getting to be a burden to listen to. I am just outside the recall year but if tightening the bolts down with some locktite will solve my issues, I have a weekend coming up soon to address.

At first I thought it was the window control unit in the door, applied felt tape all around the perimeter and stopped one rattle, this other one though is coming from the seatbelt retractor area.

Well, it's not the most HONEST way to go about it, but...
Take the truck in and have them do the recall. If it fixes the rattle, great. If not, take it back in and say "I've had this annoying rattle since you guys fixed my seatbelt. It didn't rattle before, and I want you to take care of it"

As a writer, I HATE that kind of bullshit. I really do, especially when I know the customer is just lying about it.

And as an Ex-Service writer for three different companies, none of which were dealerships, sometimes it's the only way to get a dealership to acknowledge that the problem exists.

Nothing personal, just the way it is.

I have a 2012 access cab and have a rattle in or around the seatbelt mechanism. I will take open it up this weekend and see how the fasteners and bolts are holding up and documents the status. But I am sure that there are newer models with the same problems.

Just like the clutch issues about weak plates that was stopped at 2011 models, and frame issues on +2005 models...Seems absurd to stop the recall years at a specific number knowing very well that the same parts may have been left over and installed on newer vehicles.

My first post and my first Taco, 2011 Access, Black, 5-Speed, which I treat w/TLC.

I took a look at the Access interior door panel, but step-by-step removal without damage was unclear to me, which I'd like to tighten/Loctite myself, the one I trust most.

    Where/how do I start?

    Thanks for your help.

I got the recall and the followup 2nd attempt. I would not mind getting it fixed, but I hate letting them remove and reinstall parts of my interior. Dealers always seem to bend or brake something and I hate to live with a ragged interior.

    Thank You so very much.

    (My #2 post.)

Those pictures and your description were outstanding; I will take great care to follow your step-by-step directions.

Any specific thoughts on the best way to secure the anchor screw?

I'll have to google T-25 torx driver - a new term for me - I do have pretty good tools and workshop.

Also, I'd hate to have someone at the dealership doing this, leaving a 'trail' behind...

    Thanks again.

That write up wasn't mine, it was actually maverick491's from a different thread.

As for the anchor point I have heard of people using Loctite and cranking it tight.

I also agree with you on the point of not having the dealership do it. I had an accident and the dealership had to fix things and it almost came back in worse shape

I'm gonna' follow those pictures with great care; too bad I'd rather do it myself than hand it over to the dealer, hoping against hope for the best.

BTW, the recall letter from Toyota was a pitiful avoidance of responsibility, as they figure out what to do for those of us repeat offenders, who are violently slamming those delicate doors.
