I'm approaching 7K miles on my 2013 DC TRD and I'm noticing a rattle that sounds like a fly buzzing in the passenger footwell. Its not present at idle but during acceleration and between 15-50 mph I can hear it. I pulled my Weathertech mat out thinking it was vibrating on the plastic trim surrounding the footwell but the sound is still there. Is there anyone else who has or is experiencing the same problem? Suggestions?

check the glove box to see if there are and places that it might be contacting another panel. that definitely has moving parts that could cause a buzz.

I'm not. Have you tired to take off more of the plastic on either side of footwell? Look behind the glovebox?

I have the same exact issue. Pretty sure it's the side kick panel but it's hard to pinpoint from the driver's seat. Mainly does it under acceleration but it happens a lot. It's been driving me insane as well.

I started a thread about a similar noise last week. To me it sounds like its coming from behind the passenger airbag cover. I'll have a look underneath the dash to see if I have the pesky harness problem though.

I am pretty sure that it is wires rattling behind the glove box. Best bet is to bust out the zip ties.

Mine's definitely closer to floor....no way it's behind the airbag.

My 09 had that bad... it was worst at 1600 rpm. Sounded like it was coming from the glovebox or just under it. The buzzzzzzzzzzzz drove me nuts!

It was the plastic grommet assembly that held the main harness where it went through the firewall, up behind the blower. Toyota had a TSB where they stuck some foam down where the main harness passes around the bottom the blower motor; the foam forces the harness down a tad and keeps the plastic from rattling. I had to double stack some rubber foam to about 1" thick to get enough tension to silence it.

Now I have the rattle behind the airbag to find. So far no luck. At least I only hear that one on major bumps and not all the time.

Haha, I'll definitely be looking for that shortly.

Is this it? You can see a piece of foam that is wrapped around the wire but is NOWHERE near the clip that I think it's supposed to be in.

It's pretty crazy how far off they were with that foam. It's not even close to being inside that clip. I stuffed some other foam I had laying around in there for now....that stuff was just ripping when I tried to take it off. I'll drive it around in a bit to see if it helped.

Search it! My 09 was doing it and I found the answer on TW. Several threads on it. I just don't remember exactly what it was, but it was a quick fix.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
mine had a noise like that, it was a small section of a reciept from the gas station by the blower motor.

In my case no, the harness I had to tension was as big around as a bratwurst

It's not in your picture, somewhere just a little higher up; if memory serves I pulled the glovebox for better access. It's been a couple years so I don't remember exactly where it is.

Ah, here's a some pictures from this thread. Yup, had to drop the glovebox. I put the foam rubber on the edge of that unpainted steel bracket where the largest harness rests against as it turns upward:

Cool, thanks. I'll give that a try if this doesn't work. Pretty sure mine is coming from closer to the foot area though.

I think I need to keep looking. I stuffed some foam into that little white clip and it's still buzzing. It did seem to change the sound of the buzzing though so it may be the culprit still, just didn't quite silence it properly. I'm also thinking it may be where the plastic kick panel touches a metal brace up under the glove box. I'll keep digging around.

In for solutions. Have same buzzing that I haven't been able to pinpoint while driving and when I have a passenger it never seems to happen. Will check the blower motor harness area and report back.
