If the front of a truck is measuring 90" what is the "ideal" width of the rear?

Edit, is your kit even made to run a single bolt spindle?

 

I would measure your WMS to WMS on the front end and then like jeffz0rz said, just subtract a few inches off of that and pic an axle with the WMS you need. Using the WMS to WMS measurement will likely be easier and more accurate than trying to figure out your wheel and tire width and backspacing and what not. Basically it takes tires and wheels out of the equation since they can vary greatly.

 

What ive heard is measure the widest track width (ususally ride height) then droop our suspension out and measure that width, and measure the width at full compression and average those three distances. It should be wider than bump and droop and narrower than "ride height". Dunno if this helps. If i had to guess it would be about 87" outside tire to outside tire

 

planning on picking up some material to make a front bumper tomorrow after work.. what size tube should i get? 1.5 .120 DOM? what thickness aluminum for the skid?

 

What size dies do you have?

 

A local fabricator "Metul Munky" is nice enough to lend me his bender when ever i need it and has lots of dies.

 

Go with 1 3/4 .120 DOM

 

Alright, what about for the skid?

 

As thick as you can afford ha, I like using 1/4" or thicker.

It's not nearly as much as an exact science as your thinking. Just make the rear about 1.5" narrower per side than the front

 

I guess I can limp around with a dozen extra lower ball joints this season, and finger out the front next summer.
